News Post No New Characters for Final Fantasy VII Remake

Final Fantasy VII Remake, director Nomura answered more questions about the recently revealed remake for the game. He was able to confirm that they will not be introducing any new characters for the game and that they will be taking a more realistic approach to the game. He also stated that the only platform that they are thinking about right now is the PS4 release, no other platforms are currently being considered.

That's encouraging to hear, but I'm a little concerned with the idea of a more realistic approach. What does that mean exactly? Will some of the comic relief be taken out? Will Palmer not get hit by a truck? Will Cloud not play Bruce Jenner? Will his hair be tamed? Will we not have a slap fight between Scarlet and Tifa? Will Tifa wear a back brace due to those bazongas? Hell, will Cloud not be able to lift his sword?

I really wish realism would be defined, because it's pretty hard to say what can and can't happen in a game where you can team up a guy with a gun for a hand with a talking wolf and a living stuffed animal, to fight a guy with ass length hair that never tangles.

Let me guess, the realism is that you won't be able up snowboard or race and breed chocobos, because nobody ever wins in a casino, and you should never trust someone named Chocobilly in real life.

I certainly hope that doesn't mean they're going to go on with their recent idea that nobody wants to see two teams lined up taking turns because it's unrealistic. Because that's actually exactly what the vast majority of us want. They'll have a riot on their hands if they try to shoehorn an action combat system into this.
For Our Lord Sheogorath, without Whom all Thought would be linear and all Feeling would be fleeting. Blessed are the Madmen, for they hold the keys to secret knowledge. Blessed are the Phobic, always wary of that which would do them harm. Blessed are the Obsessed, for their courses are clear. Blessed are the Addicts, may they quench the thirst that never ebbs. Blessed are the Murderous, for they have found beauty in the grotesque. Blessed are the Firelovers, for their hearts are always warm. Blessed are the Artists, for in their hands the impossible is made real. Blessed are the Musicians, for in their ears they hear the music of the soul. Blessed are the Sleepless, as they bask in wakeful dreaming. Blessed are the Paranoid, ever-watchful for our enemies. Blessed are the Visionaries, for their eyes see what might be. Blessed are the Painlovers, for in their suffering, we grow stronger. Blessed is the Madgod, who tricks us when we are foolish, punishes us when we are wrong, tortures us when we are unmindful, and loves us in our imperfection.

If they use the idea of making things more realistic as a way to remove some of the more humorous aspects of the game, they would only end up contradicting themselves as they had already stated they would be keeping most of the instances like the cross-dressing and other "light-hearted" moments in the game in a previous interview. Maybe they mean battle system wise? Are they planning to incorporate a battle system similar to FFXV? Or maybe they're just thinking about graphics wise. Maybe we won't see giant Teef boobs or SUPER SPIKEY HAIR OF DOOM, or making certain sections harder like when you sneak into Shinra? I Dunno.

The biggest thing is that with a game like this, where it already has such a large fanbase for the original and it's from a prior generation, they really risk riots for almost any change they incorporate other than graphics. Guess we'll have to wait and see. :/

I remember already reading that the crossdressing was confirmed to be happening (dont have the link, but you can trust me of all people). Also, the lighthearted moments were also commented on and said were being left in. The realism I think they are talking about mostly has to do with graphics and making the dark scenarios, even darker. The contrast between the dark moments and the lighthearted moments is what we remember from this game and I think square saying they are going to make it realistic is them trying to emphasis on this point. Also, we are getting a remake so I couldn't be happier despite the requirements of others. I dont care if its turn based or action based to be honest, as long as the battle system is well done and the graphics are good, The characters and story simply make this game nostalgic and wonderful for me. I can deal with the rest.

I think the battle system will be changed, it's an out of date system, my bets it will be action based in order to make the battles feel faster and more fluid. Wouldn't mind something like CC's battle system. I think it will look weird to see the characters standing around in a battle. I really can't see them doing a turn based system.

I am a fluid person, but I would want to the battle system to stay the same. I also need that cross-dressing bit in there as well, plus the option to equip that later on for the lols. Update the graphics (obviously), but what they really can focus on is improving translation. Don't take away from the characters but make it better.

I don't see how they could add another character to the story. I would like to see Vincent and Yuffie incorporated into the ending (where they'd be in Midgar according to Dirge of Cerberus).

I'm assuming this means no shitty spin off characters will be in it?

more realistic? does that mean proportionate buster sword? some form of ammo reload mechanism for Barret?

I think maybe we shouldn't take the comment about realism too seriously. If they want realism, then I want sex scenes.

Barret and Cloud during the gondola ride. Its got everything: homosexual and inter-racial, plus if Cloud is wearing his cross-dressing outfit we may fit transgender in as well.

I wonder ... if Barret fires blanks? And if the buster sword is over-compensation?

Or are you thinking Red XIII should've got a little frisky with Aeris in the pod?
