Did you go to Aeris house yet and talk to her mother? I think you have to do that first.
Although I'm embarrassed to admit it (due to beating the game several times over the past few years), I'm stuck on the first disk. Right after you dress up like a woman for the Don and the plate drops, you have to scale the wall to make it up to Shira HQ, I can't figure out how to get up there. I've talked to the gunshop guy and have the batteries, yet when I go to the area by the Don's house, I can't figure out how to ascend, it looks like it did prior to the plate dropping. Am I getting senile already and just forgetting the trick to get up there or should there be some cables hanging directly against the wall w/ the red text?

Anomaly is right... Barret gets interested in the Ancients and wants to learn more, so travel to Aeris's house.

Odd Q here...
What is the deal with the 1/24 soldier thing. I can only get like 3. Is there a set of 24, or is it just some random item thing???
I have played through it umpteen times and I only come across 3. I dunno...

Well you can only open it when you have the ancient key that you can get in midgar near the big tank...try it maybe it works(I think)
But dont worry i'll help you if it dont work...i've opened it when the last time i played FFVII its easy before but i dont remember it anymore i only play FFVIII

It's called the 1/35 Soldier.. and there are 12 of them, which I've only found 2. Odd.Originally Posted by Plastik Assassin

Also heard if you collected all 12, during the battle at Fort Condor mini-game you get an extra type of unit for battle you wouldn't normally have available.
Edit:
Apparently those above are rumors.

There's also another rumor associated with them that if you collect all twelve in the set that they are part of a ritual to revive Aeris. the ritual was also supposed to involve the replica of the masamune you can win in Gold Saucers coaster ride (incidently, this is where you also pick up the other 1/35 Soldiers by getting high scores) as well as the 'tissue' item that is a consolation price in the Gold Saucer and dios two autobiographies.
Another interesting 'useless' item thats winable in Gold Saucer is the Custom Sweeper, which it was rumored was ot be used as a new unit for the Fort Condor side quest. I think Hellbred got that bit of it slightly mixed up.

From what I remember, the 1/35 soldiers serve no actual purpose, it was part of a set of items that were essentially pointless, these included the Custom Sweeper, the Autograph, the Tissue, and the Masamune. The last one is particularly annoying, I remember first recieving it and thinking I could equip it..
This time around playing the game I'm going for 100% completion so I'm attempting to actually beat the weapons this time, and can't seem to beat the Ruby Weapon.
Anyone have an strategies I could use to make this easier? :/
I don't have KOTR, cause I wanted to trade for a Gold Chocobo rather than breeding one. Breeding takes forrrreeeeever

Yes, I have a strategy for you. Pick the one character you want to use. Ruby Weapon eliminates two party members automaticaly, so to make life easier, you make the decision who you're going to throw down the gauntlet with.
Once you've chosen, max out their Limit Break (for me I used Cloud and Omni-Slash but you can use whatever you like, though Cid's Highwind or Tifas limits are also advisable as they have multiple hit capability). Equip whatever you fancy for armor and weapons, but if you're smart you'll go with high power and at least two linked slots.
Equip Mime materia for sure, as this will allow you to perform an infinite chain of your limit break provided you don;t get killed by Ruby Weapon. Remove ALL Counter attack, magic, or Counter materias...they will prove a hinderance to your strategy and end up getting you killed. In the linked slots equip A maxed out Final Attack materia and a Maxed out Revive materia (this will cast Life 2 on you every time you die provided you keep your MP up). the first time you die your limit break chain will be disrupted. This is where 4Xcut materia and KotR become your best friend...but since you're missing KotR a good alternative is Qufra magic materia linked up with your highest summon (Hades can stat effect Ruby, slowing him down, but Bahumet Zero does the most damage for your buck). however, if you use this make sure to IMMEDIATLY regain your MP in your next move as low MP + you = bad if you're relying on the final Attack Revive combination.
Another good trick is to have the Phoneix materia. After ruby buries its claws, it no longer uses the quicksand skill to eliminate party members. As such, even though Phoenix will slightly heal Ruby its an easy way to fully revive your two dead party members and bring them in to help wail on ruby. (this IS a gamble, however, and should only be used as a last ditch effort)
If possible to euip them with the Final Attack Revive combo as well then the battle should be a breeze for you if you've managed to take out a several thousand HP already.
Hmm...only other suggestion is don;t be afraid to use your elixers. If you can beat Ruby Sephiroth won;t be a problem.
Have you already killed emerald? I guess not or you would have the Master materias...

Ahh, thanks. Sounds like a good strat. I will be trying it momentarily.
And no, I have no Master Materia, or Mime for that matter. I will have to locate Mime.

Come ot that I'm not sure you can reach Mime since you've not done the chocobo side quest at all. I'm pretty sure you need a blue or Green to get Quadra Magic and I think you need a black to get Mime. (not sure on that one completely though. there are three caves in the world that are only accessable by Chocobo, though the one on the Wutai continent may be accessable with the Highwind)
The strategy is sound buts its hard to execute XP sorry. I think even Final Attack materia is inaccesable unless you have an S Rank chocobo and do a lot of racing.

You get Final Attack in the Battle Square.
Yeah by beating the eight semi-bosses after getting Omnislash
Oh do you? I thought it was one of the S-Rank lottery awards. Hmm, pity. How did I end up with three then? Been a little while since I've gotten far enough into the game to actually do that again as its uneccisary to complete the plot Well, at least I got it being at the gold Saucer right and the endless limit break strat is still do-able.

no im sorry ffvii for the pc is a peice of SH## ...can u help me its a great game but for the pc it is horrible the controls make it so ur screwed because u have to use it in the storys and stuff(sigh)
My only real helpful suggestion is to use a controller. I used my PS2 controller with my computer via a nifty little thing called a PSX-USB converter. You can buy them at RadioShack for $12, and then program your Playstation controllers to be used with ANY game on your computer. Definitely one of my best investments ever, and made playing FFVII PC quite simple.

Ok so this has always bothered me... When you make it back to Tifa's bar in Midgar she says something about the weapon shop owner upstairs and he wants to give you something... How do you get there?
It's the building south east of Tifa's bar. It has three floors. The first floor is the guy who sells items, some other guy and a guy that let's you sleep in the room on the third floor. The second floor is a tutorial room where you learn about the game. You can sleep on the third floor if you pay the guy on the first floor 10 Gil.Originally Posted by Camas28

ok, I always just thought I was bein dumb and just missing it, it always really bothered me that its my favorite game and I could get everything but some stupid thing at the BEGINING. That makes me happy to know that now.
