Ok, I'm on my second playthrough of this game, and I'm at the opera scene... and I cant beat Ultros... I am using lightning magic on him and whatnot, but I keep dying. I'm using Locke, Edgar, and Sabin. Locke is at 15, Edgar is at 16, and Sabin is at 15. (Side note: For some reason I cant use Celes's special ability other than magic... any ideas why?) Please help me out here.

I really didnt get too much into 1-3, I got about halfway through 6, didnt play 9 that much, and played 12 at a friends house.

That's kind of a low level but not too bad as long as you play smart against him. Lightning attacks are the best to use on him, also summoning Ramuh in battle does a fair amount of damage to him. Like classicgamer said, Drill/Fire Dance attacks will probably do the best damage without using MP at your level, otherwise use Bolt/Bolt2.

Also move your characters to the back row. Drill, firedance, Rumah and other magics will still do the same damage but you will receive less damage due to the distance buffer.

Simple: She's not equipped with a blade. If she has a Flail or Morning Star or something -- anything with the "special" symbol in the menu -- she won't be able to use Runic, because it lets her absorb magic in her blade. So if you want to be able to use Runic, you'll have to make sure she has a sword or dagger equipped. Also, I don't believe you can use Runic with the Atma Weapon -- maybe because it's not really a "blade" but a beam of energy, the size of which depends on your current HP. You couldn't use Runic, too.I can't believe it was something to do with a blade weapon. I ran into the same problem, but fire and lightning is the way to go. His strength is usually water-but you already know that-drill his a** downnnnnn!!
