Final Fantasy V Advance - Corruption!!!

A terrible fate has befallen my copy of Final Fantasy V Advance. All my files are corrupt therefore I cannot save any progress. When I went to play through that version a second time, I wanted to save on my second file. Which was corrupt. File 3 corrupt as well. With File 4 I could not even save, it said "Save Failed". So I just saved over my first file that I had beaten from back in the day.

I had just gotten the "Flamethrower" blue magic from Prototype in World 1 when I went to save and noticed that File 1 had become corrupt as well.

When I first played through this version I wasn't able to Quicksave. A minor inconvenience but I played around the set-back. I bought the game new, from a Gamestop, so it shouldn't be some fake knock-off. My friend has the same problem now. He went to do the after-game content and all his save files are corrupt. He bought it from a Gamestop as well.

I lost 11 hours of my life, but now I can't play Final Fantasy V. I do have the Anthologies version, but I definitively prefer the Advance version because: 1) the load times of Anthologies & 2) better translation in FFV Advance.

I guess for my portable FF, I will play Final Fantasy VI. But I'll focus more on my console FFs with Final Fantasy VII.

The main premise of this thread will be: Does any other person who has Final Fantasy V Advance have saving/quick-saving problems?

Well I have never had any problems on my Micro playing it. I quicksaved onced, and for some reason, it didn't quick save so I am questioning if I did it right.

What you can do is get an Emulator and the rom for the GBa, and since you have the system and game already, it isn't illegal. And yea, you can kick the load times out and actually fight

Aww man. I have the GBA version and I've never had any saving problems. I got mine from Game Stop, it was used on top of that, so the person who had it first's previous files were still there. I have no idea what would cause them ALL to become corrupt like that though @_@?

I would suggest emulating too if you're eager to play.

I was thinking that since I'm artificially creating it, I'll create it with rocket fuel instead of blood, and thus it will be able to fly, using the dolphin's dorsal fins as wings. And from the air, it will look down upon us all and protect us against sharks, and search for bananas.

Re: Final Fantasy V Advance - Corruption!!!

Ma~n, I got home from playing the Resident Evil card game (it's alright) at my friend's house and I wanted to see if the game would work. I started FFV Advance up. Went to save. Checked the file....

    It worked!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!!

I'm happy and angry. Happy because I can play the game again. Mad because I have to do all that over, granted it wasn't much. My friend believes somehow the data got corrupted but not the actual Save slot. So it still seems the only viable slot to use. However there is always the chance of it happening again. I'm going to replay FFV, pass on FFVI for now, but if it happens again I'll just leave the game in peace.

Eventually I'll want to buy another copy of the game. From my experience though with FFV Advance I'll want to actually test the save slots & quicksave before purchasing making buying the game over the internet ineligible. It most likely is that my friend and I were in the small percentile that got the messed up cartridge, but I want to be sure.

I'm not a big emulator person, I prefer to have & play the hard version - unless I buy a downloadable game.

Final Fantasy V Advance - Corruption!!!

I bought my copy of Final Fantasy V Advance from a Family Dollar. It was still in original packaging and everything. I guess I am one of the lucky one's because I never had any problems with it. I would have to say that could it be possible that you did not put the cartridge in the slot properly? I had a memory card completely crash because of that. And some Gamestops use software to erase saved data from GBA games and then sell them as Slightly Used. Do you think that it is possible that the use of this kind of software could have damaged the product?

Not sure about them using that software, but I believe I bought the game so it shouldn't have had that done to the cartridge. Plus they could have just deleted the file so there would be no continue files to select from. How would a person know if somebody had played the game beforehand if there were no saved files? As for not putting the cartridge in not properly. I haven't had any problems with any other game, plus I know how to put it in.

I just think I'm in that unlucky small percentile with the messed up cartridge - unfortunately.
