    FFVI: Return To Narshe

Well, I have a few days off from my jobs, and there's new volunteers coming into the soup kitchen from university, plus the Rec Center is hosting a ton of Halloween workshops and events all week, so my kids are only coming in on Saturday for 3 hours.

This means I'ma be bored to death 'n feelin' useless all week. I may end up with a 3rd job by Monday. =S

So I hooked up my PS1 and dusted off my copy of FF Anthology...

    I'm Narshe-bound, baby!

Anyone else playing through/wanna with(ish) me?

Either way, let's discuss this, one of the best FF's ever made. It's my 3rd favorite, and my favorite for Characters. I also loved the Espers. Gave the summons more character and origin.

I'm playing FFVI Advance at the moment. I'm trying to get everyone to level 50 and making sure all the Mages have the -aga spells, Holy, Ultima, etc by killing Cactuars and Slagworms. I'm a bit annoyed that I was so slack with leveling some of them up right throughout the game, with the Figaro brothers having around 100 attack and guys like Cyan and Setzer being closer to 60.

I'm kinda thinking about starting over and paying attention to how I level them pre-espers (the good ones at least) but at the same time, I'm really close to the last dungeon so it's probably best to suck it up and play through again after and tackle the bonus dungeon then. It's not like VI is a pain to play anyway.

How does everyone distribute their Espers? Do you try to make everyone have the best in every stat, or do you try to keep them to their traditional roles like I do? For example giving Sabin Attack, HP and Stamina boosting Espers and Terra Magic and MP ones upon level up.

Lucky you, I wish I had FF6 advance. So hard to get now.

There are a lot on ebay, but watch out for ones that look much cheaper than the others. I bought one off a guy last year, only for it to be a Taiwanese bootleg that corrupted when it saved. You might be able to get it on Nintendo's eStore though.

Ouch! The Taiwanese bootleg strikes again.

My party ideally is Locke, Edgar, Shadow, and Terra or Setzar. I also like Celes, but I aim for those 4(5), and swap when required.

But I distribute depending on what 4 are in the party. Sabin should always hit hard, but Terra could use a power boost. I like to strengthen existing weaknesses in my characters. VIII was among the best from the pre-X era for customizing and optimizing characters, but VI still let you play around and tweek character performances. It also depends largely on the enemies I'm fighting at the time. I find myself changing Esper setups often (Changed GF's often in VIII too, but each character had 1 GF that was THEIRS, like Quistis & Shiva or Squall & Ifrit)

EDIT: It bothers me that we build devices that assume people can't spell.

Yeah, ebay is the only way I guess. I'm really glad I snatched FF5 and FF tactics in time.

Oh man, I play FFVI a minimum of once a year... and I haven't played it yet this year! I think that'll be a great thing to pick up and play in Duty Finder queues in FFXIV this month.

GBA or PSX digital via the Vita? Hmm.
