Why on earth does the Ninja wear green in the FFI GBA version? Aren't ninjas supposed to be near-undetectable, black*-clad assassins? What are they, nature ninjas?? I understand why they wore black and red in the original (can't exactly have a black-clad sprite against a black background, even though being a ninja it would make perfect sense, but anyhow )
Not too sure what they wear in the other ports/remakes.
Any theories?

yeah I was suprised too..a green ninja..I was like WTF?!
anyway they are the best class if you ask me, and combined with the Massamune even better.

The nature ninja thing might not be all that incorrect. You run around most of the game in the woods, so maybe they didn't want the monsters to be able to see you so easily. Well thats just my thinking of course...

Good question ! never thought of that. But maybe it's because of the graphic space and colour ? Some Final Fantasy characters are meant to wear black or white but instead they end up wearing purple like Cecil and Cloud..

Maybe the shades of White and Black are hard to deal with on the older consoles before the PlayStation 2. So they made the Ninja Green !

Not only is it the gayest fashion choice possible, but its also the worst for a ninja. Even with green, they can hide in the grass, if they're... "nature ninjas" like Toki said. o_O

I guess it's because Squaresoft likes being original, so they didn't want to make anything cliche like a black ninja. That's the best I can come up with.

As we can see, and for those of us who are not color blind, Bartz has a mainly blue scheme and so does Kryle as well though her scarf looks to be a lighter blue. Lenna has a blue outfit with a yellow scarf and Faris is mainly red. Galuf looks to be the most armoured ninja I've seen.

Going back to Ninja in Final Fantasy; I was surprised to see that when Thief was transformed/upgraded that he stayed a human. How many human ninjas has anybody seen? There have been quite a few, hasn't here. Now, when was the last time anyone saw a Giant ninja? Exactly.

Maybe they just thought that green was an awesome colour and to do something different. Or maybe because the Thief has a green sprite, they were too lazy to change the colour on the GBA release. Who knows.

Actually a ninja would wear more of a mottled grey, black ensemble to blend into shadows, therefore not to create a dark silhouette against a non solid background.

I think Josh nailed it. Most of the random battles take place on the overworld and the majority of the time its all grassy plains and forests.

Also I never really understood Galuf's ninja outfit, that hat looks like he is a pharaoh or something.
