Well to beat him you have to deplete his life down to 0 before he depletes all of yours to that number.
As for tactic. Pound pound heal pound. That is the best thing I can tell you seeing you gave me nothing to really go off of.
How about giving us some stats, current party level, current spells yadda yadda yadda.

ok well all my guys are lvl 69 and the spells i have for my white wizard are the following:
All the cure magic
All the heal magic (i also have Rune staff [casts healara] and heal staff [casts heal])
Life
Holy
NulDeath and NulAll
i have Dia and Diara
Protect and Protera
Stona
Dispel
and some other lvl 1 and 2 magic
as for my Ninja i have:
Haste
Fira
Blizzara
Confuse
Hold
Thundara
My knights both have 999 HP and my Ninja and W. Wizard have about 750 HP
Knight has a Defender equipped my other one has an Ice Brand equipped
My ninja has the Kikuichimonji equipped
and White Wizard has Mythril Hammer equipped
thats it

Forgive my being outdated and all, but all those have no meaning to me. HOWEVER, having beat this game on the NES more times than I can count, I can perhaps give some advice that can still translate over.
Haste is a godsend. Literally. Forgo the first few attack rounds with the Ninja to pop that onto your Knights and let them unleash havoc. Then do the same to the Ninja.
Ice Brand is, I am certain, quite the outdated sword. If possible, upgrade.
Protect is always good, as well as anything that will make his spells do less damage.
And, above all else:
Don't suck.

In reference to computer games, refers to a game that had substantial playability without flashy graphics or eye candy. Old skool gamers appreciate difficult maneuvers, careful planning, and scorched earth policies.
In reference to role-playing games, old skool refers to games that tested players' wits, could kill off careless characters, and required dedication and inner strength to play. Old skool games didn't pander to the ideas that everyone is created equal, that all options are open to all races, that the markets were somehow free, and that a quasi-medieval society could have near 100% literacy.

You don't have the Excalibur/Masamune for your knights? The Masamune is in the temple of Fiends man, find it and equip it up. That should boost your damage dealing skills.
Also, haste up your damage dealers, and spam temper on them after theyre hasted. Temper stacks indefinitely so you can eventually one hit ko Chaos if you want to spend enough time/mana to do so.

I don't know what it's called, but the item that casts SABR is a great help in the remake
I'm assuming you've beaten Chaos by now, but if you're still having trouble, my only advice is to keep leveling up. It's not that hard to level up in this game (far easier than other FF games). I believe in my old playthrough i had everyone at Lv 100 in less than 30 hours total playtime.Originally Posted by CloudTide
