    Tough bosses

I'm sure this has been done already in another forum but ohwell.

Which boss/es have beaten you the most/ been the most difficult to defeat.

these are mine, bare in mind when i gave these games to my brother to play he beat them all on his first try >.>

KH1: While these were hard it didnt help that i had to watch the movie every time i lost.

.Stealth Sneak. if it wasnt the lizard killing me it was Clayton shooting me when i had no health.

    .Rikku (in Hollow Bastion)

.1st two rounds with Ansem, the third seemed alot easier.

    KH2:

.Xigbar. it didnt help that i didnt want to beat him, let alone fight him.

    .Xaldin

Eyerything else took two-three tries max.

    Days:
    Leechgrave and Xion.

    Re: Tough bosses

I think there weren't that many hard fights in KH2, but in KH there were quite a few. The story bosses were all pretty easy for me, but the optional bosses were really hard. I never figured out how to beat Sephiroth. He would always kill me right away. I don't know if I just had to level up like 20 more levels or so, but I could barely put a dent into his HP before he got me. I didn't feel like leveling up quite a bit to try and beat just him, so I gave up.

    Re: Tough bosses

    How could i forget Sephiroth?

He was definatly alot harder in the first one, (personally i think reaction commands killed the difficulty in any battle) , the only dissapointment was not getting anything as a reward for beating the toughest boss in the game, well apart from experience, but thats no fun...

I heard you get a keyblade in the Final Mix version though which is something they sould've done in the first place.

This is true. KH2 was so much easier with reaction commands and the drive forms. I think I only died once or twice in that game. The original was so much harder in comparison. Really, it wasn't that hard either, but Sephiroth is one of the hardest bosses I've fought in any game.

I guess that would be cool, but I would only be in it for the pride of winning.

    Re: Tough bosses

Boss battles that gave me the most problems were:

    Kingdom Hearts 1:

I still can't beat that Phantom Heartless (optional boss) at the Clocktower in Neverland. Doom always takes out my characters before I take him out. Also, I'm not so good with casting magic at the right time.

Yeah, Sephiroth was definitely a challenge. Took me a good many tries to finally take him out, and once I did, I never wanted to go through that again.

    Chain of Memories:

Vexen (GBA version) and Larxene (both versions!). Larxene was just freaking relentless with her attacks, and for Vexen, I really had to set my deck up more strategically to finally take him out.

    Kingdom Hearts II:

I'll have to agree about Xigbar. Took me a few tries to figure out a good strategy to beat him.

    Birth by Sleep:

OHMIGAH!!!!! I had such a hard time with the final fight with Vanitus in Ven's story. Not so much that he was hard, but he would kill Ven before I filled up the guage thing... It was really annoying because he'd be down to one HP, but you have to deal the final blow with a reaction command or he just keeps wailing on you...

    Also, not gonna lie,
    SPOILER!!:
Possessed Zack in the Olympus Coliseum
gave me quite a bit of trouble too when I had to fight him. He's just so damn relentless with his attacks, and if you find that you've been caught in one of his combos, you'd better have enough HP to withstand it.

    Re: Tough bosses

Really good thread, i had a problem with few.
KH1 didn't have alot hard bosses, the only difficult i can think of is Kurt Zisa.
Sephiroth was in my opinion harder in KH2, i remember defeating him over and over in the first one just for exp and i wasn't even that high leveled (60-70)
But in KH2 i must've been out of practice cause i finally defeated him on around Lv.80
The GBA version of CoM was full of difficult bosses and Sora's story is the hardest challenge i've ever tried in a KH game (by far). Riku's was alot easier and the remake for PS2 was pathetically easy in comparison.

    KH1:
    -Kurt Ziza

    KH2:
    -Sephiroth
    -Xigbar
    -Xaldin
-Demyx (I thought he was the most retarded boss in the whole series, this time based game over thing was so obnoxious).

    CoM:
-Axel (Got stuck on him for a long time at the end of the game, didn't know how the card system worked that well in my first playthrough
    -Marluxia
-Riku replica (one of his encounters were pretty challenging).

    Re:CoM
-Marluxia (his death/doom skill was devastating late in the fight)

    358/2 Days:
-Dustflier (The only serious boss challenge of the game)

Birth by Sleep (haven't finished it but so far):
-Iron Imprisoner (I-III) (He keeps getting harder and harder, and probably one of the hardest bosses to dodge, ever in my opinion, i just can't seem to do that, almost impossible to dodge continually and once you get sucked in is the hardest, III is so hard D: )
-Xehanort (i was underleveled in proud mode while fighting him so i retried so many times, in critical i will be overpowered and kick his butt.)
    -Zack (second fight as Terra)

I still can't beat that Phantom Heartless (optional boss) at the Clocktower in Neverland. Doom always takes out my characters before I take him out. Also, I'm not so good with casting magic at the right time.
Just have the best magic status you can have and cast the correct magic on him, when is colored the same. You probably figured that out though.
But having Lv.3 magic with high stats is good enough.

I forgot about him! I couldn't beat him either. I did better against him than Sephiroth, though. I probably could have beat him if I would have spent more time on it, but it wasn't worth it.

    KH:
Sephiroth was the only boss I really had any trouble with. He is much harder in KH than KHII

    KHII:
Demyx was one I had a LOT of trouble with when I played it through first time. Now, he is one of those bosses you dread, but know you can beat.

Also, Sephiroth again. He was easier this time around, but I could actually beat him in this one.

    358/2 Days:
Xion was the only one, but all of the bosses were a lot easier in this game. Xion was the only one I didn't beat first time.

    Birth By Sleep:
Embarassingly, Maleficent on Aqua's story. Until I realised you can go behind her and beat the crap out of her from there.

Also, and I truly believe he is the hardest story boss in the entire series, Master Eraqus from Terra's story. I can't believe no one has mentioned him yet! Oh my god, I think I remember actually throwing my PSP. He made me rage so much. I've never been happier to beat a boss in my entire life.

Stealth Sneak, it wasnt the lizard, though it didnt help with him always dissapperaing, it was Clayton, with the gun, so thats why i always have to go for him first.
the pirates of the caribbean boss, cant member his name, it wasnt that he kiled me, i would have beat him if Jack hadnt died on me, the first time i tried to fight him, i nearly beat him and then all of sudden it came up that i lost and i was like what!? cuz i hadnt died.

Just curious about 358, did you try Dustflier? Probably 10 times harder than any other boss in the game. Xion was a challenge because she healed herself. I thought she was only hard in challenge mode (was happy when i reached 100%), but Dustflier was serious business, i liked that they included him.
In BbS i thought Xehanort was way harder than Eraqus, although Eraqus was pretty hard but you need to level up accordingly.
I totally agree with Demyx xD probably the hardest and most annying boss fight in KH2, at least i wasn't stressed out while fighting Sephiroth, so Demyx wins that award.
Btw updated my post, after finishing BbS with all characters

    Re: Tough bosses

KH1: Sephiroth was definitely the hardest boss in that game. Outside of him, I found most of the fights in that game to be pretty easy, even on proud.

KH2: Sephiroth again, though a far cry from the slaughter you had to walk into in KH1, still a very difficult boss.

Xaldin on Proud actually gave me quite a bit of trouble the first time, he doesn't now, but that first time he was just a bitch.

KHCoM: There was nothing in the entirety of this game that gave me any trouble.

KH358/2: The dustflier was a bit annoying, but tbh I actually had more trouble with Leechgrave, that thing was just awful.

KHBBS: Xehanort at the end of Terra's story on critical. That asshat seriously gave me more trouble than Sephiroth in Kh1. I was underleveled, which I'm sure contributed to alot of it, but I hate grinding up to win a fight, so I was stubborn and kept at it until I won at a low level, so many game overs...

Leechgrave extra mission where u cant be hit, now that was a hard battle.
Dont know how i managed to finish that one.

I dont understand why everybody think Sephiroth in KH1 is harder than in KH2. I remember in KH1 i was playing with him to get exp, i killed him again and again with ease.
Few years later i fought him in KH2 and he felt way harder. Barely won him there.

    Re: Tough bosses

Just putting it out there, but I thought one of the hardest bosses is Cerberus, the first time you face it (them?) in KH1. The two times I've played it, I've struggled in that battle. I have completed all the bosses, including all optional ones, in KH1, KH2, and KH:COM (GBA), but I'm willing to say Cerberus stands out.

It could be due to the fact that in KH1 when you get to a certain level, around 70, enemies and bosses that were once challenging can be defeated pretty quickly. Sephiroth was insainly difficult the first few times i fought him but when i grinded to around 70 he was no real challenge except for when he cast that spell that depeats all your health/ mp. It also made the fight with Ansem seem like a joke, most of the time i just fight him for fun.

Yiazmat from FFXII. I've never been able to beat him. Nor do I have the time and patience to even bother going for it.

Umm. I still have difficulty going for Emerald and Sapphire Weapon in FFVII. Whoever's equipped with KOTR gets knocked out first, and reviving them only leads to them being killed the next time it's the boss' turn. Maybe using KOTR is the problem. ><

Ozma. I can't beat that bastard for anything! I had shadow absorbing/blocking equipment for Doomsday. I had finished the friendly enemies sidequest,. which allowed me to hit him with physical attacks and Doomsday would hurt him. I thought I couldn't lose going in, but I did. And it's all Meteor's fault. And Curse.

I also can't get Ol' Emerald from FFVII. But maybe I'll try it again next time, now that I've seen HCBailly's (YouTube LPer) strategy. I have gotten Ruby, though.

You can drop Emerald in one shot if you feel like killing something like 65000 enemies with Vincent's Death Penalty first lol.

Riku-Ansem in Hollow Bastion was always challenging for me - i can't remember how many times i had to retry the battle until i finally beat him.

Aside from that, i didn't really have any other major trouble with the story bosses. The superbosses are a different story though

    Re: Tough bosses

I found that all of the optional bosses were extremely difficult. So difficult, that I don't even bother with them anymore. I may try again one day, but if I die too any times, I won't play it again.

One in particular is Sephiroth. Another would be Hades in the Tournament (the big one with 50 or 100 levels, can't quite remember). That stupid attack where he makes flames come out of his arms and spins in circles.

It could be that I do the same things, expecting different results.

    Re: Tough bosses

Xaldin in KH2 gave me a massive headache....I could beat it in every challenge except for the hardest version, I always needed Mickey to come out and help me. There are more bosses that are annoying and not really difficult, but that's a different forum for a different time.

    Re: Tough bosses

I quite liked the optional bosses on KH. Out of the four Kurt Zisa was definatly my favourite. It was challenging, yet not insanely impossble like Sephiroth seemed at first. Although it was made a lot easier if you managed to Summon Tinkerbell before he freezes your magic. That way she constantly heals Sora and revives him should he eventually die.

Phantom I was happy to get out of the way. I don't particularly like the flying levels but once I figured you had to cast Stop on the clock hands it wasn't too difficult. I think I remember beating it with Sora's countdown on 2 with Peter and Donald both KO'd.

The Ice Titan was just frustrating and I think we've all covered what made Sephiroth the battle that it was.

    Re: Tough bosses

I found quite a lot of the bosses in the original hard, and only beat some of them through sheer luck or bad collision detection that worked against the AI. And the worst thing about this game was that you couldn't skip any scenes.

Clayton and the big beetle took me about ten tries. I only managed to beat him because the game glitched and the beetle got stuck on the other side of that big tree root, letting me corner Clayton and kill him before he could use any potions. When I fought Ursula the first time the cauldron only seemed to backfire against her randomly and I was in dire straits when I dealt the final blow. Maleficent's dragon form was cheap as **** and I never would have beaten her without Beast and his powerful lunge attacks to soften her up. When I beat the possesed Riku in Hollow Bastion, I had an inch of life remaining and it was only through luck I parried the attack that would have killed me. I still don't know how I beat the final forms of Ansem. I was badly prepared for the chain of battles and used up most of my Elixirs when I fought him the second time with just Sora.

On the other hand, some of the bosses were stupidly easy once you figured out the strategy. Namely Oogie Boogie and the Behemoth towards the end.

    Re: Tough bosses

Hardest bosses for me were most of the optional ones, especially Sephy from KH2.

    If we're talking storyline bosses:

    KH1:
    - Maleficent, took quite a few tries to win it, I think. It was a long time ago

    KH2:
    - Xaldin, that took some serious concentration to win
    - Demyx, most overall deaths in a boss fight due to those damn timed water clones lousy fighter my ass...
