Party Pokemon

I just started again on Heart Gold recently and i was wondering: does anyone else have a Pokemon game being played at the moment? If so...

.My current party is: Feraligatr, Scizor, Luxray and Trapinch.

.I chose them because i wanted guys that i would never usually get as i dont often trade. They're also pretty strong and they can all learn at least one HM.
Feraligatr can use Surf and Waterfall, Scizor can Cut, Luxray has Strength and Trapinch is my future Flyer.

.Feraligatr: Wendle, Scizor: Selphie (*shrugs* it begins with S), Luxray: Leon and Trapinch: Frankie (it would make more sense once it becomes a Flygon).

I've been on break as far as Pokemon goes for quite some time now, still, I couldn't help myself, but to respond in this thread. It's no secret that I'm not really fond of newer games in franchise, with every generation Pokemon tend look more dull, there are exceptions of course, rare though. Thus whenever I play newer games I limit myself to old, classic Pokemons. With that being said, my party look almost identical in every game, and no, it doesn't become tedious using the same party every time, not to me that is.

My final party usually looks like this:

Turtok (Blastoise)
NidoKing
NidoQueen
Raichu
Arkani (Arcanine)

To clarify few things, Turtok, and Arkani are no nicks, rather German names of those particular Pokemons. While I'm at it, I'll have to say that German version of Pokemon names sound way better. Those are my main five Pokemon's, last one is usually the starter, though I know to throw in either Garados (Gyarados), Tauboga (Pidgeot), Dragoran (Dragonite), or Gengar. I restrain myself from using legendary Pokemon's, not my cup of tea really. As for why I use these Pokemon's, well, aside from looking great some of them can cover their weaknesses. For instance Arkani can learn dig, thus easily gain advantage over rock type Pokemon's. Among others NidoQueen is able to learn ice attacks, in yellow version both Nidoking, and NidoQueen were able to learn Thunder, electric move.

Right, err party Pokémon. I'm going to say all of them in all of the DS game I own, since they are the ones I play the most these days, and I chop and change bewteen the games quite often.

I always have to have 1 flying type, of course being Staravia, Pidgey and Pidgeotto in these parties. I also have to have 1 grass type (Budew, Victreebel and Weepinbell/Meganium), for Cut and such, but also because Grass is quite strong against a lot of different types (apart from Fire). But, of course, that is where my Water/Rock types come in (Geodude, Empoleon and Gyrados). And then the rest are just filler really. I change them out to accomodate the battle at hand.

Also, with nicknames, in all the years of me playing Pokémon, Platinum is the first game where I decided to give mine nicknames. This is partly out of laziness, but also because I just like to have the original names.

its been about a month since ive picked the game up though. back in the red/blue/yellow games i gave them nicknames but diamond was the first pokemon game ive played since those 3 so i wasn't too familiar with every pokemon....so, for less confusion, just kept their names. i used these 5 cause i felt like it is fairly balanced - unless im in a gym battle, i like to have an extra space open incase i catch something useful

I'm on a new play-through of Yellow, actually. I hadn't played it for years and had a long train journey. That signalled the return of my PSP and Gameboy (pocket... Ohhhhh yeaaaahhhh.)

What made you pick them?
They have epic moves on tap. They are able to deal with most situations. I don't really need a water pokemon thanks to Dragonite. So, yeah... My team kick some serious arse.

Never. If I do that then I can never find them when I put them in a computer. I end up looking at them going 'Steve... Who the f*ck is Steve? Wait, I have a pokemon called Leafy?.. Was I high!?' Nicknames are baaaaaaaaaaad.

I'm playing through B&W right now. Although I haven't played it lately, so I don't remember what my team is. I'm kind of waiting for the game to come out at this point and just play it all over again.

Aside from Feraligator, I stick with originals, and always use the same ones. Granted, that's not hard because I've only played Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver and Soul Silver.

I use them just because I like them. Aesthetic, primarily. Covering HMs is secondary, but still more important than what us powerful and/or rare.

I nickname every single Pokemon.

I am currently trying to do a quick playthrough of Soul Silver before Black/White comes out. I am not to far right now. Just got to the 5th gym.

I am not focused on catching Pokemon at this time. Right now I am trying to beef up my Typhlosion so that I can easily rape all the gyms, and the Elite Four later on.

I'll have to dig my game out, bwahaha. I've not played it since I left college, and that was about nine months ago. I was playing HeartGold. I caught all of my Pokemon using the Pokewalker and I'm not even five hours into the game. ^^;

My Party:
Lvl 15 Wobbuffet.
Lvl 12 Totoodile called Rawr.
Lvl 11 Magnemite.
Lvl 10 Onix.
Lvl 8 Metapod called Greeny.
Lvl 8 Nindoran (female).

But yeah. I caught most of my Pokemon using my Pokewalker, as I didn't really have time to play my DS when I was studying - but I was walking everywhere. Seemed to make sense to me. Sometimes I'd bring my DS to college with me too during a long day there so I could swap the Pokemon out during breaks - each time I did, they went up a level.

I collected over 85,000 steps, and like almost 4000v.

First i picked Feraligatr, he so cool and i love water type! Ampharos was my second, i always get Amphy great Special Attack. Arcanine and Kingdra hell yeah they rock! Staraptor the POWER! Attack is just waay high! Dragonite gotta love dragon types. I don´t give them nicknames.
