Zelda is the Bomb man.
I've enjoyed all the ones I've played ( Link to the Past,Ocarina of time, Majora's Mask, Oracle of Ages, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Link's Crossbow adventure( its not official but what the hell). I played a bit of four swords but I didn't like the whole gameboy advance hookup deal. I also played the first one and its sequel on the NES but I'm far from finishing them.
I do, however I also consider it to be one of the most overrated series ever. I have this urge to punch anyone who praise Zelda for it's story as it's nothing more than basic, shallow, and predictable, told anew with minor if any difference at all in almost every title. Add same characters with that little bit of personality they have, identical motives, and appearance, setting, locations, items...it became tedious to say the least, it's basically same game over, and over again.
One thing that keeps me playing Zelda though, is it's addictive, and brilliant gameplay. As for the ones I've beaten, Wind Waker, Spirit Tracks, The Adventure of Link, and Twilight Princess are titles I have yet to beat, I'm almost done with Twilight Princess though.

The thing I like about Zelda is putting the games together. (for the unofficial timelines)

I like the Zelda games. Yeah, they are pretty "strict to formula" types, but the formula works and can be pretty fun. My favorites in the series are tied for Ocarina of Time and WindWaker.
I wasn't so excited for Skyward Sword at first, but now I kind of am. It'll be something to play on mydust collectorWii.

I haven't really liked a Zelda game since the GBC remaster of the Gameboy Zelda. Link's Awakening (GB/C) and A Link to the Past are the only two I've ever really cared for.
I had to force myself through Ocarina. Not to say it wasn't a great game, but 3D puzzle solving dungeon crawlers just aren't for me. Zelda, just like Mario, Sonic, and every other beaten-to-death franchise from my youth did not shift to 3D well for me.
Note: I don't mean 3D graphics, I mean actual 3 dimensions. SNES games did not have a the dimension of height to them, it was go left, right, up, or down.
Edit: "But Sean!" you'll want to say "Your avatar is of Wind Waker Link, and your sig banner has Paper Mario Thousand Year Door Goomba, you silly hypocritical bastard!" to which I reply.... yes, yes they do, because I'm too lazy to make new ones. 5 years ago, I loved Nintendo and all it's franchises, today.... not so much.
Either way, respect where it is due, Nintendo saved video gaming from collapse in the late 80s/early 90s, and if not for them it wouldn't be what it is today.
Sadly, today's Nintendo is pewp.

Ocarina of Time blew my mind. I loved the gameplay and the story was sound, I've not really played any others than Majora's Mask which was a pain with the constant time travelling!
Well i have played pretty much every Zelda and i see what you mean Xan, they have good story lines but yes like you said it is very predictable but the first time you ever played it was different.
OOT was my fav until TP came out but im excited for SS![]()

Zelda is a great series. Not my favorite series, per se, but I've enjoyed every installment that I've played. I wouldn't say the story is ever particularly deep, nor the characters generally particularly developed (though there are some interesting/fun ones) the game's world is usually a lot of fun to run around and explore. Lots of color, lots of imagination. Also, Ganondorf is one of my favorite video game villains ever, especially his appearance in Wind Waker. He was pretty damn bad ass in that.
I think my favorite is probably everyone else's least favorite: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Maybe because it was my first one. Love the game-play in that, though. Even if some consider it "impossible," heh. Also, the enemies; you got your lizard people, your skeletons, your knights, and your scary bird knights who like to pop out of random blocks... (Not to mention the giant blobs that fall down on your head.) Classic game in its own right. Anyhoo...

Zelda is one of the series I have missed out on alot, since the only game I have ever played in the series has been Ocarina of Time. Wait, I played one for the Gameboy Advance, too, but I forget the title. Anyways, fantastic series, I think this series is pretty much on par with Mario as far as Nintendo franchises are concerned. Perhaps in a future I'll own a new Nintendo platform and play a few more of this games.
This recent Zelda binge virus going around cause of the 3d Zelda has made me continue my UBER Challenge attempt....still stuck at the Hardest thing to do.
