Keyboard/mouse. Mouse is faster and more accurate then your thumbs and your hand doesn't tire out as fast.
Let's say that you're playing an FPS multiplayer that's cross-platform between PC and PS3/Xbox players, which players are inherently better in your opinion? Those that use the computer keyboard and those that use the gamepads?

FPS on consoles support auto aim for a reason, keyboard/mouse are God given for this genre, thus players using those have advantage.

When it comes to FPS, PCs definitely win this battle. You have more control over your aim because, technically, you get to point at where you want to shoot and you get the job done. Counter-Strike is a nice example of how well shooters work out on PC.
EDIT: however this line is starting to get kind of blurred because look at consoles now, you have the technology to use mouse and keyboard if the game supported it. Also you have motion control technology. Even with that knowledge, PCs are still the dominant systems for shooters.

I use to argue and argue.
PC will always have a slight advantage ALWAYS with the keyboard mouse.
That being said I have seen people move really fast and accurate on FPS with a controller and they have turned auto-assist off. Some people are just really good with controllers.
Mouse Keyboard still wins.

mouse+keyboard wins. Try play counter strike using a controller. You wont get far. games like halo and crap like that can be played with a controller, noob fps. but serious shooters use keyboard+mouse.
lol Halo required more skill then CoD2 and beyond until Halo 4

So far, unanimous. Keyboard and mouse for FPS.
I will say, however, that I cannot (or, refuse to) play -most- third person games with keyboard/mouse combo. If the game supports keyboard only (like FFXI), I'll do it if I can get comfortable with it. Otherwise, with games like Dark Souls and Kingdoms of Amalur and Dragon Age (etcetera), I'll use a controller to play. It just makes more sense to me, because it feels more natural in that instance. Hotkey a few things to various keys on the keyboard, and then use a controller for everything else.
Ever tried a racing game on PC without a controller or a driving wheel? Asking for nightmares.

I didn't have a chance to play FFXI with a controller but the keyboard was easy to use within week 1.
I use a controller for FFXIV beta (which I'm not finding really "fun" compared to FFXI) and the controller is so easy and good but I'm sure they made it better for XIV than XI.

To me games like Kingdoms of Amalur and Dragon Age, Dragon Age Origins in particular, feel natural via keyboard/mouse, and faster, I'm having hard time seeing how I could manage everything in Dragon Age Origins using a mere controler, then again I never used it so it might be in fact better.

I will use a controller 90% of the time just because it is more comfortable. I mostly use keyboard/mouse for competitiveness

I must say, Terraria is not as bad as I thought using a controller. Hopefully when it comes out on Vita it wont be bad without an L2 and R2. I love playing it on pc, but I like the idea of portability, especially for games such as Terraria, where you could just play it for 5 / 10 mins at a time.
I haAaAaAaAate using PC for most games. I'm not a fan of fps regardless of what I play on, so I don't really reap the benefits of fps on PC. It just feels more comfortable to use a controller, I think. Literally the only game I will regularly play on PC is Sims 2, and that's mostly because Sims games really suck on consoles. I hated playing Assassin's Creed 3 on my PC, much preferred on the PS3.
FPS are much better with a mouse and a keyboard, otherwise, controller is superior. I don't really consider First Person Shooters to be legitimate genres for gaming though (filthy casuals)
For me, controllers are much better for platformers and other such games, though it's kind of negligible with RPGs.
I bet they will set those to touchpad buttons or something like that for Vita.
But on topic I think Keyboard have a minor to moderate advantage with or without aim assist factored into the equation. After playing Halo games with some friends who were the type to reach max rank I have seen some silly amazing things done on a controller, of course there is nothing saying you can't do it just as easily or even more easily on a keyboard mouse combo. But man is it easier on mouse especially with so many mice supporting multiple sensitivities that can be quickly hot swapped between for different situations.

fps with a mouse and keyboard feels like cheating it is so much better. and you hit the nail on the head with this :
slightly off topic but in the same vein, those of you that pc game with mouse and keyboard do you sit at a desk? i moved about 6 months ago and gave away my desk thinking i would just want to try switching to using the couch and tv for pc gaming. i thought it would be more comfortable, but now my wrist is the weak link since the mouse is on a weird angle on the couch arm.But man is it easier on mouse especially with so many mice supporting multiple sensitivities that can be quickly hot swapped between for different situations.
