    Greatest Video Game Moments/Scenes

What are in your opinion/experience the greatest video game moments/scenes?

    Mine:

Battle with Psycho Mantis (Metal Gear Solid)

I remember the first time I and my brother fought Psycho Mantis, it was, in a way still is, unlike any other boss battle. The entire scene, reading your memory card to find out which games you play, "moving" your controller, was impressive at that time. It took us quite some time to figure out how to defeat him.

    Sovereign (Mass Effect)

The entire speech is epic to say the least. It made Reapers even more mysterious, even more menacing, from that point on I just wanted to find out as much as possible about Reapers... then starchild came and pooped all over it.

That will have to do for now.

My 2 all time favourites are the Mother Brain battle of SNES Super Metroid. Just..WOW. I'll never forget that moment ever. Aaaand everything about FFVII ESP the Nibelheim scene. Most people think they're badass when they walk away from flames in slow motion, Sephiroth is badass for walking through one. The theme "Those Chosen by The Planet" is one of my all-time favourite songs (across all genres) suits the overwhelming presence that is Sephiroth *dreamy sigh* and the eeriness of Nibelheim perfectly. Actually Ill throw in the Vergil & Dante VS Arkham in Sparda form from DMC 3 that was so hot awesome as well.

I'm with Crescent here. Dante and Virgil in general. That whole game was dope but the scenes they fight each other and as well as team up are awesome.

I don't see how people are mad at the Starchild crap. Reapers didn't make themselves, an AI created them which was created from another race, which the AI based the Reapers off of that race. That's me though, and I too am one of those fans who wanted to know everything about them, but at one point, before the end of ME3 I accepted that this mysterious race is having it's strings pulled as well.

It's only logical there's someone or something behind their existence, I'm pretty sure fans are okay with that part, it's starchild's logic and little to nothing on Reapers that irritates many, myself included.

    Choose your Pokémon (Pokémon Red/Blue)

I imagine this was one of the hardest decisions for most of us back in the day. My first Pokémon was in fact Bulbasaur,

    Final Fantasy VIII Intro

I'm having hard time choosing my favorite Final Fantasy scene since there are lot of good ones, somehow Final Fantasy VIII Intro sticks out to me the most, partially due to jaw dropping CGI at that time, though mostly Liberi Fatali which is my favorite piece in the series.

    Quake II Multiplayer

It was my first genuine multiplayer experience, I still remember narrow corridors in one of the stages and my brother chasing me with BFG in his hands.

Felt like adding more since there are no other threads that interest me:

The first time I saw fatalities in Mortal Kombat. The lines "Finish him!" and "Fatality" still ring in my ears. I can only recall the fatalities from Ultimate/MK3. I couldnt perform any of them back then, I just watched my brother do them all on meXD Depending on the stage, with every character, I loved how you'd take an uppercut and fall into the surrounding spikes or spinning blades or get hit by the train. Smoke's, Kung Lao's, Cyrax's, Jade's 1&2, Ermac's, Sub-Zero's and Reptile's fatalities in MK3 were my personal faves. Scorpion is still my favourite MK character.

Also..lol..just lol. And another great moment from CBFD. Awesome gameXD

Ive played Morrowind, Oblivion and a lil of Skyrim(got bored) but I had the BEST experience with 'Shivering Isles', the expansion pack of my favourite game of the Elder Scroll series, Oblivion. Similiar in nature to that of the Dark Brotherhood quests, "Baiting the Trap" quest with the 3 adventurers was the most fun Ive had in all the quests throughout the entire series as well as in most other games. I preferred the insanity option and as for the ruling one section of the isles, I chose/loved the dark, dingy, depressed but dangerous atmosphere of Dementia.

The cutscenes I've experienced in video games that I personally favor are the following:

    - Everytime Link first wields the Master Sword: Its a really grandeur moment that started with ALttP. The music that plays in the background suit the moment perfectly and the emotion of him either pulling it out of the pedestal (ALttP, OoT, TP, WW) or fully powering it up (WW 2nd time, SS). The moment in those games really made me feel like I accomplished something.

    - similar to Cresent on this one, the Mother Brain battle really rocked my world. It had the atmosphere of a serious battle and it really made you want to concentrate on the battle so you don't end up getting killed and you have the sense of hopelessness as the scripted part of the battle whittled you slowly and surely down to 1 energy point until your metroid friend came to the rescue. The following part where you have to escape was very memorable too, you had the sense of urgency with the timer running down on you and you're seeing things explode as you go.

As for other metroid game cutscenes: I loved the one in MP1 where samus does a high front flip out of her ship and lands on the frigate in a crouch stance. In metroid prime 2 my favorite scene was when Samus did a last minute bail out of the dark side of aether at the end. In metroid prime 3, the scene that really stuck with me is the ridley battle in the beginning when ridley and samus were endlessly falling and fighting each other as they were descending.

    - I personally liked the cutscenes in the Ys games (excluding the CG intro in the PS2 version of Ark of Napishtim). The effects are really cool and the music playing in the background gave off a sense of adventure and epicness. These games gave off cutscenes I would love to watch over and over again because they were pretty well made and enjoyable.

    - I would have to say that THE greatest moment for me in a video game would have to be the ending of FFIX. The emotion and everything that is happening in that particular scene leaves off such a huge, unforgettable impact on the player. In order to leave such an impact on the player, you would have to develop a character you can really get attached to and a storyline theme that would really engage the player.

Man this thread should have way more responses, only 6 2 from the same people who have already stated a few of my own favourites-FF7 and Super Metroid. Other memorable moments I seem to recall is THE moment when the Licker jumps through the magic mirror in RE2. Scared the s*** out of me back in the day! One of my favourite games too. OOT - Dodongo's cavern, was the moment when it really hit me that this game was something else, still to this day love that dungeon AND Bioshock -The twist blew my mind. Remains to this day one of my favourite gaming experiences.

So many more. So little time.
