Do you like video game movies?

Do you? I think that they can be a hit or miss, depending on who's producing/directing. I remember watching Doom years back and to this day it has to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life. There where rumors (and I don't know if they still have in mind to one day do so) of a possible Halo and Castlevania movies. I'm not sure Halo would be all that good, but Castlevania might be. Did any one like the Mortal Kombat movies?

Very hit and miss. Some are great, like Mortal Kombat (which I absolutely loved by the way, even Annihilation), whereas others are terrible, like Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Doom etc.

One I was greatly surprised at was Tekken. I was very, very sceptical about it, but it turned out to be awesome. The story wasn't fantastic, and didn't really follow the games, but I enjoyed it. Whoever played Raven was probably the greatest casting choice of all time ever. He was exactly like him.

Video game movies are way too often low budget projects with terrible cast, and awful producer "cough"Uwe Boll"cough" who doesn't give a shit about original source in the first place. Thus my answer to both of your questions is no, I don't like movies based on video games, nor do I like Mortal Kombat movies, then again the first one wasn't that bad so I guess it deserves more credit.

Silent Hill is only video game movie worth mentioning, it's faithful to it's source with great atmosphere, and decent cast.

I guess as a general rule of thumb, movies based on games and games based on movies tend to suck, although there are a few very notable exceptions. I have to say that the games that generally have stories that could lend themselves to a good movie are really too long to make an adequate two hour movie include everything. So even if the story is right for what is included, the fans will always be disappointed by what was left out. It's the same way I am with Marvel superhero movies. I have to get myself out of the accuracy mindset and into the "Is this a purely enjoyable movie?" mindset. That is the only reason that I liked the Thor movie. Good casting and everything in the movie happened in the comics, maybe not at the same time, but at least it happened. The first Mortal Kombat was pretty good as far as video game movies go though

Tekkan was probably the only videogme based movie that looked interesting to me. I saw the trailer online but i've never seen or heard of its release over here which is kinda sad, didnt even go straight to DVD or anything and yeah from what i saw of Raven he looked pretty cool, although he was dressed in white.

I think some can be decent, but far too many more seem to be just awful. I remember being so disappointed by the Super Mario Bros. movie, and I was quite young when I seen it too (in theaters, no less).

I will say that I have more good experiences with video game movies than bad. I did enjoy the first Resident Evil movie quite a bit, and the first Mortal Kombat movie was pretty enjoyable too. I fan-gasmed over Advent Children and the Silent Hill movie was pretty good. None of them make it in my favorite movies list though.

I completely agree, Mortal Kombat was awesome and Resident Evil, which I was so excited for, was such a let down especially since they pretty much ditched the original story for 'Alice'. Very frustrating for actual fans of RE. And let's not even start with the Final Fantasy movie...

Heh, I actually liked the Super Mario Brothers movie, and I think I still have my copy on VHS somewhere... It was fun, I thought. Nothing like the games, but imaginative in its own way. Haven't watched it in years, though; I might cringe if I watched it now.

But yeah, don't usually like video game movies. Thought the Mortal Kombat one was okay, when I saw it however many years ago. Also used to think that about that Street Fighter movie though... I put it in the other year, and couldn't stand to sit through it.

Those are hollywood-made video game movies, however. Anime video game movies have a chance to be awesome. Street Fighter II, for example, was awesome. I also liked the Animal Crossing movie, lulz. Can't think of anything else... Anyhoo...

I also like the Resident Evil movies. They are a shambles compared to the games, but I always think to myself "If the games hadn't been created, andthe movies just got made with the storyline they already have, people would love the movies, because they have no games to compare it to."

I don't really like video game-based movies. I've never seen The Spirits Within, but I've heard nothing but negativity towards it, so I know it can't be good. The Resident Evil movies suck and shouldn't even be labeled Resident Evil. That Alice chick is what ruins it for me. Well, alot of things do, really, but she's the straw that broke the camel's back. The Silent Hill movie was okay, though, I guess.
