My husband and i are looking for good games, especially for ps2 and then we are planning to buy the ps3...
Can anyone please recommend a game?? please do a review...
Thanks!!!
I recommend Okami. I'm not good at writing reviews, but I can try.
Okami for the PS2 (and also the Wii)
Okami is an action/adventure game developed by Clover Studios and published by Capcom. You play as the goddess Amaterasu, who is a wolf, and it's your job to restore the land of Nippon back to splendor. The game itself is about 40 hours long, if you don't bother doing any of the sidequests.
A pretty neat concept in Okami is the Celestial Brush. The Celestial Brush is used in the game to take out foes, solve puzzles, and is also used during the general gameplay. The player brings up a canvas, which also pauses gameplay, and the player can paint symbols on the screen. Each symbol does various things, and you learn the symbols by releasing the various gods.
I don't want to give away any part of the story, but I will say that there really is no singular antagonist. At first when you play, you think you have to defeat Orochi and the game is finished. But much to my surprise (and delight) there was much, much more gameplay.
I hope that you at least check this title out, because it's a really fantastic game. Here's a link to one of my better posts about this game.

I can easily recommend some of my personal favorites, but my tastes in games may be much different to yours.

Mona Lisa Overdrive - Self Appointed god
LoVeLeSs - Freaky Goddaughter
brnthsdiscout - FF Lovin' sister
DiaryofJane-Music Loving God Mother
Unknown Entity - My sister and my right hand in the family
Silver - Enforcer
I second Okami, it may be "childish" but it's still a beautiful and very fun game.
However, as was mentioned upthread, without having any idea of what games you like it's hard to make recommendations.
For PS2 RPGs, besides the standard Final Fantasy games, I offer Tales of the Abyss and Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King. Tales has a more action-based combat system. I loved the characters more than anything else. The story was good with lots of character development, but ended up becoming really weird near the end. Still a worthy choice though. DQVIII is sadly a much overlooked game, as most people bought it solely for the FFXII demo. Shame on them. It's a very classic style RPG, tougher than the average Final Fantasy and with a lot more charm. The story is a great example of a simple one done very well, so while you may not find a lot of depth, there is a lot of heart.
I've waved my favoritism banner for the day, but I'll try to come back and add more targeted recommendations once I know what you're looking for.

ALright here goes..
PS1:
FinaL Fantasy 7 and 8: Two of the most epic games ever created and the story and characters wiLL never faiL you!
PS2:
FataL Frame (Based On true Story), FataL Frame 2: Crimson ButterfLy and FataL Frame 3: Tormented: These three series of FataL Frame is one of the greatest horror games that I ever pLayed.. though, I haven't finished FataL Frame 2 at the moment, I can guarantee you that aLL of them is great. The storyLine is very creative and every part/series have a compLete connection to the previous series/part.. aLso.. the settings wiLL never change in every series, though, you'LL discover new areas that you've never been to.. aLso the story is so great! And scary.. 'coz this is based from two scary foLktaLes.. (Though it's fiction, I haven't sLept aLone, for Like, one week, pLaying this..) so.. you reaLLy shouLd try this.. if you Like horror and survivaL games.. aLso.. this is very very different to Resident EviL, 'coz in Resident EviL you fight Zombies but in this game you're struggLing a ghost.. and your weapon wiLL be a camera.. very amusing? Right?
Shadow Hearts (Covenant): A good game! This is a continuation of the first series of this game, though, I haven't pLayed the first series of this game.. you'LL have a brief part on what happened.. aLso.. it's Like a FinaL Fantasy game, where you'LL in a quest/mission to fight bad peopLe and save the Earth from destruction.. where you meet friends and peopLe who wants to join you, 'coz they fight for the same reason as you are..! ALso The battLe-system is reaLLy unique and chaLLenging.. :-)

"HELLO GUYS!"
I will recommend personally few of my favorite games. I don't need mention any Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy because you probably know everything about them. Well here it goes:
For PS2
- Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty - best action/stealth game for PS2
- Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater - same as above
- Gran Turismo 4 - best racing simulation
- DragonBall Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 - If you love DragonBall then you'll really like this
- Resident Evil 4 - Maybe the best Resident Evil game
- Devil May Cry 3 - pure action with excellent story and characters
- Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection - Best fighting game for PS2
There are plenty more but these ones are pretty good. I haven't play PS3 that much so I can't recommend you any game for it.

Sig and Avy made by Unknown Entity
I just want to say that I second Xan's pick of Metal Gear Solid 3. I picked up this game fairly recently, and I loved it.
I had never played a stealth/action game before, but I decided to give MGS 3 a go. I must say that I was blown away. The ending is a real surprise, too.

Known or not, I HIGHLY recommend Kingdom hearts. I think it has some classic universality to all people, ranking in my mind as one game any gamer should collect. It has great Zelda like elements, with the ties of Squaresoft to give it an interesting story and fun gameplay. This one really is a must have and may be hard to find in stores
Also, one game I think could deserve note is either Devil May Cry (which I can personally reccomend having played it) or Devil May Cry 3 which I hear is the best in the series. May nto be for everyone as it is darker in nature, but is a fun action game with some cool gameplay elements.
Spoiler: Member of SOLDIER
Valkyrie profile 2: Silmeria: This game has the best story I have ever seen in an RPG. That alone could be worth it. But nevertheless, the game itself is just amazing. The battle system is very unique, having turns but at the same time, utilizing movement throughout the whole battlefield. It is truly a game worth getting.
Tales of the Abyss: If you're a fan of the Tales series, you'll love this one. Unlike most of the others, this one lets you move throughout the entire field very soon in the game (you have to level up a little bit) instead of just move left and right. I like plot, characters, and battle system a lot, too. This, too, is an excellent game.

Im not very good for recommending games... But i can try and tell you about MY games!
PS1:
Breath of Fire III (Awsome looking grafics for beign an PS1 game! Also has badass old school fighting!)
Breath of Fire IV (Really good game too! Also has the Old school feeling!)
PS2:
Dragon Quest VII ''The Journey of the Cursed King'' (This game is nothing better than AWSOME!!! This game is quite tricky! can give one hell of an challange! And... The Old school feeling is included too!!
Prince of Persia ''Warrior Within'' (This game is really good! However... it has some scenes that scares you like SH!T... the most adrenaline part is when you get chased by the Guardian of Timeline ''Dahaka'' It sure is making my Heart slam harder!
I don't have anymore games to present you with... Hope this was useful...
My Reaction of People That Points The Obvious
This is my Daily Day in 2FortMy TFF Family:
Shadow Hearts- the first game in the series and the most darkest; it has a pretty good story with likable characters. The Judgement Ring system is not as clear as in the next two games so it makes it a little hard to time. There is some gay humor, as there is in all games, in case you don't like that (there is one gamer on gamespot who does not like gay humor). There is more humor than just gay to make you laugh.
Shadow Hearts: Covenant- a sequel to the first game that does everything a lot better and my favourite in the series. The battle system has been improved and is easier to time, there are 4 ways to physically attack the enemy that does different things to them (more important when doing combos). The story is great and the characters have depth. There is more gay humor than the first game and more humor in general that makes the game funny. The dark atmosphere is still present but not as dark as the first game. There are tons of quests to get final weapons and skills to add to the enjoyment.
Shadow Hearts: From the New World- the third installment in the Shadow Hearts series. This time the setting are the Americas, some of the older characters make cameos in some form, but it is a new cast all together. There have been new additions to the battle system that are nice. The story had lost a lot of the dark atmosphere and is more "bright" which saddened me; the villians aren't as deep as in Covenant and the story not as good but still strong. Once again there are quests to get nice goodies to make you stronger.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King- a lush and vibrant world with great characters and a great story. There is some humor in the game to make you laugh. The battle system is simple but has a lot going for it. There is a monster arena where your monsters you catch battle other trainers. One of my favourite things in the Dragon Quest series are the casinos which make a return to the game.
Shadow of the Colossus- game with only 16 bosses and no minions to strike down. There is strategy needed to take successfully take down the colossi. The colossi fights are a fun in themselves. The music really compliments the game mood and the scenery is beautiful.
Tales of Legendia- there are many things in this game that are not as good as they are in Tales of the Abyss, however, they are still good in this game. The battle system is the linear motion battle system, you can move you character left, right, or jump. It is a bit harder than Tales of the Abyss. The eres (special moves) are not dull to look at since you'll be using them a lot. The story is split into two parts: the first part is pretty standard rpg tale with a few good twists and the second part (character scenarios) deepens the cast more to make them really fleshed out, also completing the character scenarios is when you get the true ending. This game is funnier than Tales of the Abyss by a mile and is one of the funniest games I've ever played.
Main series FFs Beaten - FF: 4x, FFII: 3x, FFIII: 3x, FFIV: 3x, FFV: 3x, FFVI: 4x, FFVII: 5x, FFVIII: 5x, FFIX: 3x, FFX: 4x, FFXII: 3x, FFXIII: 2x, FFXV: 2x
If your thinking fo getting a PS3, I recommend:
Tomb Raider: Underworld - Great game and graphics and now has trophies available!
LittleBigPlanet - A little childish BUT it has lots of trophies, easy to get and has an massive online mode to create, play and publish levels. A long Story Mode as well.
Call of Duty: World at War - Great War game based around World War II, includes 2 storylines, Americans Vs Japanese and Russians Vs Germans/Nazis. has a great online mode which is very addictive and has lots of trophies! About 70 trophies I think..
There are some recommendations for the PS3.
"Humans are tools, I'm not gonna die for one of them..." - Lightning - FFXIII
Zargabaath mentioned picking up Shadow of the Colossus, which I recommend as well. But if you're going to get SoTC, you should get Ico as well.
Ico for the PS2
This was released in 2001, and I believe it was a launch title. You play as Ico, a boy with horns who is imprisoned in a castle because well...he has horns. Ico doesn't stay in confinement for long and he goes about exploring the castle. During his exploration, he comes across Yorda, a girl who is also a prisoner and who doesn't speak Ico's language. Ico decides to escape the castle with Yorda hand-in-hand. Yes, you actually have to guide Yorda through the castle by her hand. Ico has the option of calling over to Yorda to get her to come to him, but most of the time he is dragging and pulling her along.
This game plays mostly as a puzzle game, but there is some combat as well. Shadows in the castle are constantly after Yorda, and it's up to you as the player to make sure she doesn't get captured. If she does, then it's game over.
I think the only downside to this game is the length. I was able to beat it during one sitting.
However, the game is beautiful. Even though it's a 2001 release, I think the graphics hold up rather well. The environment of the castle is gloomy, but it's beautiful at the same time.
If you do decide to pick up Ico and SoTC, and you get yourself a PS3, there is a third installment being released. It's called The Last Guardian, and it's a title that I myself am eagerly waiting for.

I will strongly recommend beyond good and evil. it was my first game on the ps2 console and I have never regreted it. I`ve played it countless times and its still one of my favorites. the gameplay is good, good characters and a strong storyline![]()
If you are looking for a good PS2 game I suggest Final Fantasy X-2. I personally think it has a good storyline and is generally entertaining and good fun.
Yes i Love FF X and X-2 i suggest it. I have both games and haven't beaten any of them but they are really fun and have good graphics.
I agree! That is something I forgot to add to my message; even as I was starting up the game (FF X-2) all I could think was that the graphics were outstanding. If you are looking for quality, I would highly suggest it.Yes i Love FF X and X-2 i suggest it. I have both games and haven't beaten any of them but they are really fun and have good graphics.
