While I love KHII, Atlantis is one the worst parts of any game I've ever played. It wouldn't have been nearly as bad if there was some combat involved.
I don't care about the singing or anything, it's just a real drag.
I just finished the fight with Ursla in KHII and while it wasnt the most action packed fight in the game i didnt find it as bad or embarrasing as people have said. They say that Atlantis is the worst part of the game, at least Donaldand Goofy wernt given major parts.
Does anyone agree that this world sucks or is it really not as bad as people say?

KH2 doesn't have you fight Ursula I thought? I thought at that point the game turns into more of High School Musical thing where you have to sing songs and do all kinds of goofy stuff.
If you're talking about KH1, yeah it was really bad because Ursula was a tough boss and things were only worse because of bad 3D cyberspace fighting you had to do with the swimming element, and the camera angles were horrid too. The first time I was successful in that fight was I just swam as far away from her as possible while shooting magic at her and having goofy/ariel just clobber her. It's what made it work for me lol.

Nah II has Ursula but you sort of have a sing off and how well you score depends on if you win or not. Its not the most action packed fight there is but, well, thats pretty much it lol. I agree about the fight in KHI too i really dont like any levels in a game that have to do with swimming as the controls are always off somehow . I waited until i'd finished at Hollow Bastion and when i came back to fight Ursula she was no bigge lol you dont even need to beat her at all to progress the story.

I actually liked Atlantis in the first game. I don't mind swimming level, and it was kinda fun. Ursula was a drag though.
It just throws the entire track of the game off course for some people. One moment you are back to back with Auron, dual-wielding Keyblades and killing tons of Heartless, the next you are singing 'Under the Sea' in full mermaid gear... kinda lost the mood.
I am actually grateful that there was no combat in II. The one from KHI was awkward and stiff. It needed more free movement like the flying combat was at the end.
Even the flying combat at the end seemed somewhat restricted to me. i'd have enjoyed the battle with Ansem a lot more if it was kept on the ground. It was the same as swimming but i can see the difficulty in creating and perfecting these kinds of movements in a game like KHI

I have yet to play Kingdom Hearts II, though going through Atlantis in first Kingdom Hearts was a bad experience to say the least. Navigating in midst of battle was poorly done, and battle against Ursula was a mess to begin with.
Her first form made me realize how flawed the targeting system is, fighting her for second time made me threw my controller, which I haven't done since NES era. I tend to play Kingdom Hearts II pretty soon, knowing that I wont go through same is actually a relief.

Singing was never a great point in any game, especially if it is an action game. Even if all of Atlantis was in a death metal or hip-hop or any other kind of music, it would not have fit in well at all. I am just glad it is all optional...it is right?
FINISH HIM!
I liked Atlantica, it was more fun in the first one for obvious reasons, but i've always liked it.
I thought Caribbean was kinda silly though, i find Wonderland a boring level and Neverland was only fun in the first game.
Atlantica wasn't rly a drag, fun in the first one and u dont have to spend much time in the second one, takes like 1 hour overall in KHII.
Lost space or whatever with Stitch was really boring though, one of the worst levels in my opinion.
It annoyed me, while hearing the old disney songs was nice, it started to annoy me at the Ursula battle, I had to do it about 5 times til I actually got through. And listening to the same song over and over is not fun
I didn't find Atlantis in Kingdom Hearts II was all that bad, sure it wasn't as grand as it was in the first game but it wasn't terrible. I got a kick out of watching Sora singing, a voice of an angel. Goofy and Donald were all right too, they didn't do all that much though. The only annoying part for me was that you continously have to keep leaving the world because you're missing something, I would have preferred if I could have done it all in 'one go.' Besides that, however, it wasn't horrible. Kingdom Hearts I was actually not bad with the underwater battles, but KH II was randomly entertaining.
why would i care to sing? yeah, i agree that its the worst part of KH2, just a real drag

im just glad I wasnt lost there for ages like i was in the first game, it made me cringe a lot, but other than that i was just happy for a break from getting my arse handed to me every 5 bloody minutes
Not sure if this regarding Atlantis specficially in KH or KH2 but Atlantis in KH2.......eh, I didn't hate it but I would of rather be in Mulan's world again kicking some butt, that's my favorite world. But yeah, the singing and stuff...some songs are cool, but overall for me. 3/10 for Atlantis

I prefer the singing in Kingdom Hearts II to the swimming in Kingdom Hearts. I never got truly used to swimming in the first game. I completed both Atlantica levels, and KH2 Atlantica is better in my opinion.
Maybe it's just the Rhythm gamer in me trying to come out.

I personally don't think that it was that bad. Sure, as I'm not that good at rhythms and stuff that stuff kinda annoyed me, but seriously, there are worse worlds (/secretlypointsatAgrabah)
I actually thought it was quite funny. Different from the other worlds, you know?
In the first Kingdom Hearts, if compared to Neverland and his flying controls Atlantica was actually very good.
Why?
Because at least Atlantica's maps doesn't look all the same.
...yes, I actually managed to get lost in Captain Hook's ship .___.
So if I had to choose between those two, I would say Atlantica.
In KHII...I found myself turning down the volume when I played the musical part for the fear of my father coming in from the next room and asking what 'that' music was.
If something bad happens, do the Panic Dance!
In KH I would say the up and down controls bothered me, but like the rest of the worlds it had it's own unique take... i mean you were underwater lol
I KH2 yeah the musical did annoy me greatly, and i'm a huge music fan too
Neverland wasn't bad, although i felt they took a very poor perspective on things like Neverland had a lot more to offer than just a ship Big Ben -.- i preferred it in KH BBS where you were actually in Neverland's coves and islands
I kinda liked Atlantis in KH1 it was a nice break from the ordinary walking around killing. I also loved the flying gameplay. I didnt have a whole lot of problem with Ursula's second form (i had problems with her first form though but thats cause i wasnt very good at english at the time so i didnt know what to do ) Anyways the second form was easy as pie beat her in a minute or two. Ansem flying form was also incredibly easy in my book the only boss where you fly or swim i had any problems with is chernabog who sadly didnt make it into KH2
I didn't hate Atlantica in KH1, but I only got through the first fight with Ursula through sheer luck. The thing with her cauldron backfiring only seemed to happen randomnly no matter how many times I matched the colour with the magic, and I only had a shred of life and no items left when I finally killed her.
I haven't played KH2 yet, but it's been on my shelf for almost a year and I will do soon.
I loved Atlantis in KH1. The controls took a while to get used to, but after that it was a fun change to the usual mechanics.
It was okay in KH2 too. The songs were catchy and it also was a nice change, although I would've preferred some real combat in the mix too, perhaps in the same style as was in the first game.
