    The 3rd Birthday

Has anyone played this gem of a PSP game? I'm currently playing through now for the first time. I like it. It's not very similar to the other games in the Parasite Eve series, specially in gameplay. And the plot has it's standard wtf moments. But those are really the ONLY complaints I have so far. Just a nice handheld survivor horror.

    Any thoughts?

    Re: The 3rd Birthday

I picked it up, but as Andromeda will surely tell you, my games tend to sit shelved for a couple months until I actually get around to playing them. Dissidia is consuming my PSP time, Pokémon and Okamiden are consuming my DS time (which is blended with the 3DS and thusly, SSFIV3D), so on and so forth...

I am definitely looking forward to playing it, but I have a terrible thing to admit - I've never played either Parasite Eve title. I figure I'll wiki the storylines so I don't miss anything relevant. :3

Well, idk how well up to speed it brings you on previous events. Nothing much so far. But if you're into the retro thing I would highly recommend playing PE1. I myself have never played PE2.

But I would like to read the book, because apparently the game, movie...they were all based on the book first.

    Re: The 3rd Birthday

I'm bumping this thread to say that I finished the game, as it's not terribly long. And I have to say I was really taken with the plot of the game. It's got a healthy dose of the USS Enterprise-make-shit-up syndrome. However, it somehow gets it all to make sense. And it has plenty of features to encourage replay value, such as killing monsters in a...maid uniform? Yeah, I don't even... But there are a lot of extra-shiny features for this game.

I HIGHLY recommend playing this as soon as possible before too many spoilers reach your ear. But I warn you, it will make you want to replay the Parasite Eve series.

This baby's been jammed into my PSP since I got it and so far it's the only shooter I've found comfortable on PSP. I figure it might be easy as shooters aren't my genre and I'm having no problems, but the story and game mechanics are totally solid. I've never played anything like this before.

Ok so beat the game between last night and today...first run at least. I had to watch the video logs over so things could start clearing up for me. It was a pretty sick story but I got lost in some of it haha.

The game seems alright thus far. I don't think the game is a good as Resistance: Retribution or Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow or a handful of other shooters available for the PSP. Far as design goes, PE3 could have been worse. The controls while not perfect are not overly complex and work adequetely on the PSP despite not having a second analog nub which is usually the biggest downfall for most PSP shooters.
