Lets play Maniac Mansion!

I'm going to start up on this game today, anyone interested in playing along? I've already beat the game using a few characters, I'm going to try a different combination of characters to explore the mansion with.

If you're joining, what characters do you plan to use to explore the mansion with?

Those of you who never played this game, its a point and click adventure game for the NES and the PC and you explore this huge mansion in order to rescue the main character's girlfriend. There are a bunch of high school (probably older) kids to choose from and you can only pick 2 other partners. There are different endings depending on what you do.

well, in the game you initially start with the character Dave, and for beginners... I would use Syd and Bernard as your 2 other friends. This game has multiple endings so if you ever want to play again, you can use different characters for different things.

Well today I just got the key and entered the house. whoop--Ty--doo.

Well its a start, when I start playing i'm going to use Dave, Wendy and Michael and see how that goes.

What team are you using?

EDIT: started the game and collected a bunch of items in the main part of the mansion. I'm not going to go any further than the security door so you can keep up with me. I accidentally got caught with one of my characters so I got to bust him out eventually.

Well I have to start over, I got all 3 of my characters thrown in the dungeon. Don't know how to get them out. I used the characters you suggested for beginners. It's kinda a pain to newbies. Hopefully I'll get used to it.

No, don't start over, theres a way to get them out, you have to push a loose brick with one character and have the other character quickly exit out the door as you only have a few seconds to do so.

You'll only be able to get 2 characters out but theres an item you can get later on that will guarantee your freedom without having to bother with the loose brick.

P.S.: The loose brick is located on the middle section of the wall

I got a little further with that hint. I got the small key with another character while one of my guys got thrown in the dungeon. Still figuring stuff out. Got past a monster by feeding it wax fruit.

I might not finish the LP, but at least I've tried something new

Why might you not finish the game? are you stuck? If so let me know what you're trying to figure out and I'll point you in the right direction. I'll play some more later today and edit this with my progress.

Well, I'm using Gamefaqs a lot, just takes a lot of getting used to. I've been getting to characters up to a room, letting one throw me in the dunegon, and then quickly getting items out with another before being thrown in the dunegon with that character.

Yeah, but you don't have to feed him at his room. So I finally got back to playing, nabbed a bunch more stuff. I'm after the envelope now so I can mail a manuscript.

nah, i didn't bother with finishing the game yet. i might get around to it.
