I'm a regular WoW player, and I'm kind of torn between My raging FF fanboyism and my job that i have to pay for. Any advice?

It will probably be more casual than FFXI was, but not as casual as WoW. So I guess it depends on if you don't mind working harder for things in a MMO. And considering what they are doing with the classes it will play in a different way than most MMOs you're probably used to.
If you like FF and enjoyed FFXI then definitely FFXIV worth it. If you like FF and like the way things are done in WoW then don't know. Probably try out the beta if you can.

Rofl.
If you don't already have a PS3, I'd wait a few months as I think they are coming out with a new version of the recently released PS3 slim. Should be pretty nice.
Also, we'll know more about FFXIV as the beta gets released and people start actually playing it. You could more easily decide at that time if you want to get into FFXIV or not. Not a whole lot is known right now about the game.
Hang on Che, They're bringing out another PS3 Slim? Can you link me please?

to be honest, the only thing i look for in an MMO is a jump button but i'll do some research
I believe that Che is talking about the 250 gig PS3 Slim. It's the only other version I've read about and it is just a larger HDD otherwise the same as the current Slim.
And a jump feature...
They've stated that the beta will be starting on PC only before it moves to console beta. So anyone playing on the PC will get a jump start.

Right now it's only "rumors" of a 250GB version of the slim, but you know how shit always gets leaked way before they officially announce shit, and then it comes out. I think its a marketing strategy to gage reactions before they put shit into production.
edit: Andromeda beat me to it.

Confirmed date for 250GB PS3, third of November if you hadn't heard. Only a $50 markup from the current $300. Not bad if you don't already have one and can wait another couple of weeks.
I'll just stick with my launch 60GB with interchangeable hard drive bay, kthxbai.
But seriously, if you don't already have a PS3, that would be a good one to get -- especially with FFXIV, considering how much space the game with updates might end up consuming.

If you think your PC won't be able to handle Final Fantasy XIV then you would have to upgrade that or get a PS3; you can also wait longer and see if Square and Microsoft will settle things to release FF XIV on the Xbox 360. Buying a PS3 because of one game is a toss-up. The price has come down to a very competitive level and I'm sure you would buy more games for it than just FF XIV so it would work out in the end.
Whatever would be most cost effective is probably the best way in the end, besides not getting it.
Main series FFs Beaten - FF: 4x, FFII: 3x, FFIII: 3x, FFIV: 3x, FFV: 3x, FFVI: 4x, FFVII: 5x, FFVIII: 5x, FFIX: 3x, FFX: 4x, FFXII: 3x, FFXIII: 2x, FFXV: 2x
Wait a bit before you decide to get something, you never know what might happen, so for now, just save up, and then decide what you wanna do, its really up to you. You don't have to take my advice, but you should atleast consider your options. Anyway, hope this helps![]()
