While I'm unsure if they have even said that there will be a monthly payment for Final Fantasy XIV - though that will most likely happen - the PS3 users wouldn't be treated special. If the game is pay-to-play than all users, regardless of what system they are playing on, will have to pay. I don't know of any MMO that has some of its user-base pay-to-play on "x" system but for "z" system they don't; if that happened I'm sure the user-base that had to pay would be very irrate and sales for the game on "x" system would probably be low. Resulting in the company having hardly anybody paying-to-play.

Aye, a PS3 user would have to pay some sort of monthly fee, otherwise there will be so many QQ posts about it, from non-PS3 players. Personally i will be playing FF XIV on my PC, i do have a PS3 though.

Reasons for this;

Mainly cause i prefer to play MMO's on a PC

Also access to Vent, TS etc is easier to access as this tends to be a huge part of communication from players in the same Linkshell/Guild/Legion/Allience - what ever you wanna call it.
