An unlikely Hero

Ivalice - Sir Agustive Trongmill, Mullonde Cathedral Chronicles – In an odd turn of events, Orbonne Monastery was attacked a few days ago by members of the Order of the Southern Sky. The frontal attack was set into motion as Princess Ovelia Atakascha was attending daily worship with her guard. Her royal guard, headed by Agrias Oaks, was dispatched to handle the ruffians and protect the Princess at all cost. The battle was short as members of the Southern Sky met with the sharp steel blades and skill of the Royal Guard. One by one the knights fell, as they were given no quarter for their offence on the Princess and the Church it’s self.

But to the surprise of the Royal Guard, this was just a diversionary tactic set into motion to draw out the guard and allow a single member of the Southern Sky to penetrate the confines of the monastery through a back door and kidnap the Princess with no opposition. The plan was a success unfortunately as an unknown man entered the church and abducted Ovelia with out the slightest confrontation.

With speed the kidnapper threw Ovelia onto his Chocobo and headed off into the direction of Fort Besselat, The Royal Guard was quick to react as they gathered their troops and a few mercenaries and headed off in quick pursuit.

They caught up with the assailant as he was crossing the rope bridge at Zeirchele Falls where he had run into conflict with members of the Order of the Northern Sky. He was quickly taken down by the Northern Sky as he tried to make an escape but the Princess was not out of the hot water yet, the members of the Northern Sky decided to act against the knightly code they upheld and decided the Princess was better off dead so that Prince Orinus could ascend the thrown and the Northern Sky could control the Royal family.

As the conflict rages and eventually seems to be a draw, a sole soldier appeared on the field of battle, his name was later to be revealed as Delita Herial, a commoner that was taken in by the Church of Galbados as a squire and quickly moved through the ranks, and aided the Royal Guard as they turned the stalemate into an onslaught. The knights of the Northern Sky fell as they were taken down by Delita’s blade. The light of Ajora shined down on the battlefield that day as the Royal Guard won a frivolous victory. The Royal Guard gave thanks and praise to Delia for his efforts.

Delita was sent by the Church when they heard of the abduction from Simon Penn-Lachish, Orbonne Monasteries librarian. Wishing to remain neutral in the war of the North and South, the church wants to keep the entire Royal family safe, until all petty disputes are resolved.

Delita relinquished the requests of the Royal Guard to escort Princess Ovelia to safer ground, knowing that the Royal Guard was also a faction of the Church. He then disappeared as he wished the guard a vigorous farewell.

To the surprise of many, Ramza Beoulve was in the company of mercenaries that aided in the rescue, he was the primary leader of the mercenaries and lead Ovelia, Agrias, and the rest of the guard to Lionel where Ovelia is handed over to Cardinal Alphonse Delacroix, of the Church of Galbados, who welcomes her with open arms and offers protection and a good night sleep for the rest of the rescue party.

In a surprise statement from the Cardinal hiself, he stated that the “Church will remain neutral through out the events of this war and will give shelter to Princess Ovilia” in a press release. He later was quoted giving praise to Delita as the true hero of the day, for his efforts brought the Princess safely to the protection of the church.

As for this commoner, Delita, high standards have been set from the praise of the church and it only goes to show that “one commoner can make a difference.” The future cannot be foretold but this is surely not the last time that we will hear of this brave young man.
