Evenlan H. Escot – Beville Post – Luca – Maester Mika declared the commencement of the Calm for all of Spira with the defeat of Sin yesterday. In a public speech from the Grand Yevon Hall Maester Mika gathered the citizens of Beville to make them first in Spira to know the good news that was quickly spread throughout the city. He was greeted by cheering so loud that he could not finish his speech for ten minutes, when the crowd finally calmed down enough to hear him.
Maester Mika went into more details after the initial announcement. He told everyone that it was Summoner Braska that had defeated Sin with his final summoning. In honor of his achievements he is being granted the title of High Summoner and statues are already been commissioned in his image to be placed in Beville.
Later after the public announcement ended Warrior Monks of Yevon were available for interviews that had witness the fierce battle between Sin and High Summoner Braska. High Summoner Braska returned from Zanarkand having completed his final summoning taking Mount Gagazet’s snow path into the Calm Lands. The Calm Lands are where previous High Summoners have done battle with Sin and defeat the great beast to bring the Calm to everyone.
High Summoner Braska, in keeping with tradition, stood on the plains of the Calm Lands waiting for Sin to arrive. Reports from the Warriors Monks claim that he used his summons to draw in Sin from the open sea diverting Sin from attacking a passing ship. It was later confirmed that a ferry ship had been attacked by Sin, but the damage was kept to a minimum by High Summoner Braska’s distraction.
Reports from the eyewitnesses in the Calm Lands claim that several of High Summoner Braska’s summons were used in holding off Sin while he prepared his Final Summoning. Details of the Final Summoning are scarce with vague descriptions describing it as a large creature even taller than the Dragon Bahamut with the form of a man of darkened skin and tattoos. During the battle with Sin witnesses say the Final Summon drew out a sword from itself that was the size of a large house. The fierce battle between the Summoner and the terror of Sin came to a triumphant end when it was slain, split in two by the massive sword of the Final Summon.
At this time no remains of Sin have been found and those on the Calm Land said it fell apart into pyreflies upon it’s defeat. The Warrior Monks have search parties spread out through the Calm Lands killing off any Sin Spawn that remained to bring order back to the region.
Among High Summoner Braska’s pilgrimage party Sir Auron and Sir Gecht were said to have accompanied him. However, neither was seen at the final battle and no one present had seen or heard news of their safety. Beville has given them honorary status of ‘Sir’ and are putting together special search parties under Maester Mika’s command to locate the both of them. Maester Mika was not willing to comment on their status simply saying, “They have both served Spira well.”
In Luca celebration preparations are already being made for Maester Mika’s arrival. The entire week is being declared a holiday giving everyone time to enjoy the new peace that has been desperately fought for by so many summoners.
The Blitzball stadium is being set up to house as many people as possible for Maester Mika’s visit. In honor of his coming and the Calm a special Blitzball Tournament is being held with free admissions. The tournament committee has said that all food and merchandise purchased during the tournament will be donated to the rebuilding of Besaid Island that was hit by Sin during the early days of its return to Spira.
Further details on the celebrations to come will be announced locally and ferries will be traveling non-stop to allow for passage to Luca. High Summoner Braska will be honored in a formal ceremony preceding the Luca celebrations to mark the opening of the holiday.
Pray to Yevon for a long Calm.
