....Why?
If you're going to type that long, just send a PM. It gets to the same person either way. But that's just my outlook.
Can we please expand the character limit of visitor messages? Currently, it's only 1,000 characters. I've come across numerous times where I typed too much, and I had to shorten my message by cutting its length. Then, I had to wait another minute before submitting the other part of my message.
I know most people don't usually type long messages in a VM, but some of us do, and it gets frustrating after a while of going past the character limit.
Thank you.

"Why not?" is the question that should be asked. We did it for social groups, might as well do it for this too! PMs just aren't as convenient as clicking into my profile and typing up something fast, which is probably why VMs exist to begin with.
The limit is killing me right now... My profile is proof. I had to scale down most of those messages, which takes away from the convenience of just typing whatever comes to mind. Is it wrong to ramble? IS IT SO WRONG?
My fingers won't stop moving.

I never bothered/remembered to make a thread with this idea, but I'm glad Fate did.
If VM'ing is there, but you have to PM for longer messages, that's just weird.
I know some members who like to have personal discussions in VM's, and having to downsize your post or breaking it up in up to 3 different VM's is really annoying.
Just my two cents.
Wouldn't bother me to increase the text limit. So... yes. I support dis.
Curious?

My shortest post in a while seeing I am on my cell. I agree with what general populous for the most part.
Maybe not unlimited though. I dont think I would like to click on a profile and see one never ending vm. Plus that would make for a huge table.
Wow, longer then expected.

i suggest to make it around 3000 characters, or even the higher your post amount then the longer messages you can post. That way guests wont go on and post random messages over and over. and this is a splendid idea.
Been gone a long while but im back now and not as annoying. promise
THANKS TO ANDROMEDA
Guests can't go on and post random messages anyway... So I have no idea what you're talking about.

I think it should stay free-for-all. I mean, it would be annoying if you were limited to less characters just because of your posts count. If anything, that could lead to more spamming, because the people who are tired of the limit would just try to get their posts count up to increase the length.
And like Meier said, the length probably shouldn't be unlimited. All types of forums texts have limits, after all. Maybe a few more thousand characters would be enough to type out all that we need to?

That, I can agree with.
I'll go ahead and expand the limit to 5,000.
Considering the original limit on posts was 10,000 (then 20, then 50, and now 100), 5,000 should be way more than enough for visitor messages. Anything too obscenely long would be a touch ridiculous for a public message.
@MS: Why wait for Fuzz?
While I was at it, for no reason whatsoever, I increased the image limit per post from three to five.

Look, I tested it out!
And um.... yes, 5,000 sounds perfectly reasonable.
