English Voice Actors

I didn't want to see anything else on Final Fantasy XIII until it came out, but one thing I was curious to see is if the english voice acting was good or bad.

Then my best friend showed me the International trailer and to my surprise, they're actually pretty damned good. Their lips also move in sync with the english words, it's pretty incredible.

I can't wait to play this game.

There might be a few spoilers or hints to the storyline in this for those that don't want to see *ANYTHING* about the game until it comes out, so beware. Here is the link just in case though.

I saw this the other day, and I to was very impressed. Some games I have played has had horrible voice acting on them, the mouths are all f*cked up, adns hit, and you can tell it doesn't go with what they say. So far it is looking pretty good though, I am very excited about it...

Square did say that they were taking the time to re-sync the lips to the English voices. However, I believe that they were only doing that for the in-game cutscenes, which means FMVs probably won't be lip-sync'd. But looking at the trailer there is probably going to be more in-game cutscenes than FMVs. But hey, they are able to some really good stuff with in-game cutscenes. They actually have individual groups of hair moving around something that you certainly didn't see in FFX and FFXII in-game cutscenes. If you're not playing attention too much it is easy to forget you're not watching an FMV sometimes.

But yeah after watching the trailer like 20 times I think I can conclude the acting is better than it has been. I thought some of it was initially flat, but re-watching proved that it was not as flat as I originally though. Overall though definitely pretty hopeful voice acting.

Final fantasy games generally have great voice acting( especially xii) but im genuinely impressed by the voice acting in xiii from what ive seen. They seem to have got intonation down to a tee. Too bad the voices used are generic american accented stereotypes and we have to listen to that damned Leona Lewis over them. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

True, but at least it works. The stereotypical voices. Not the song. The song isn't working for me, and I'm not sure if it's going to grow on me or not.

It's nice to see that SE did take the time to sync up the mouth movements with the voicing, but it wouldn't bother me if it didn't. I guess I'm more of a "big picture" kind of gal, rather than a "nuts and bolts" one.

I think the quality of the voice-overs is amazing, and I really like the voice that they picked for Oerba Yun Fang. It might be because I think I heard a bit of Australian in it, and they have some wicked cool accents.

Oh my God, I agree. I really liked the way they put the trailer together, but that song just doesn't work. Especially when they start showing some of the battle stuff, the song sounds so out of place.

I think the voice acting sounds pretty good so far. It's definitely better than some of the voice acting in X, which had some pretty terrible moments (the laughing scene, anyone?), but that game also had the glorious vocals of the Shoopuf handler, so any bad acting is completely forgotten.

I just saw this as of now. Decided to come back to TFF to see if anyone had anything on it and turns out you guys did. Any way, the voice acting to my surprise is amazing but with that being said I'm not sure if it matches their personality just yet will have to play first.

The song.... is just not doing it at all, it almost of rides the talking cause its so loud they should of just given us the Japanese song they used. Kimi ga Iru Kara. That is the song they should of just kept because without knowing the actual lyrics for the very first trailer they had (that was subbed but not English voice acting) it fit almost perfectly and it depresses me some they are changing it to Lewis' song. I just feel that it's way out of place in this fantasy game.

On a more serious note though I was completely blown away by the quality of the actors themselves and more so the lip synching was beautiful. THANK GOD. Or more appropriately. THANK S-E!

The voice acting of Final Fantasy X was complete shite. However the voice acting in Final Fantasy XII is easily the best voice acting in gaming (hon. mention to Metal Gear Solid 4).

So it seems they are heading in the right direction, and I've already touched on how much I like the voice acting of this game in another thread. So yeah... Lol.

SE did another great job picking the English VAs as they did with FFXII. There are some questionables though: Snow but I feel he will be good but his sample was a bit above average; another being Serah as something just didn't strike the ears for me.

Fang, not necessarily bad, I am looking to hear more for her because her Australian accent was the strongest the series has had (or so I believe) I can't get an accurate judgment of her till I hear more of her dialogue.

The rest were pretty great and am eager to fully seeing their performance in 16 days now. HUZZAH!

The ones with the best voices are Vanille, Hope (being whiny and all), and Lightning (They made the monotone sound good )

I love Fang's voice. >_> And I keep thinking I know Hope's VA from something else...I just can't think of who he sounds like. Blaaah. I hate it when that happens. Overall I don't think they made any huge gaffs in the voicing department.

So far the voice acting is very impressive. I don't enjoy Hope's voice it is so whiney and just pisses me off. But other than that it is very good.

At first I was unsure of what I thought of Vanille's voice because I couldn't hear her say a lot. However, once I realized the voice actor was from Australia it made me like her better. But she does have some weird parts. Definitely not the best voice actor. I really like Lightning's, Snow's, and Fang's voice actors.

I was originally gonna play this game with Japanese audio but I actually like the English voices.

Like everyone else, I am loving the voice work in the game. My favorites so far are Sahz and Fang (I just got Fang in my party, so I'll be hearing a lot more out of her ), but every one of the actors/actresses are doing a fantastic job.

Though I can't confirm it, I'm pretty sure that Danny Glover is the voice of Sahz.

Sahz = best at being a synergist = Angel's in the Outfield = Danny Glover!

I second that. Then again people can exxagerate a lot. Though I was a bit worried about Vanille when I saw a clip from the game on a Gamespot preview where she is asking Hope if he knows how to pilot the "air-bike" in Chapter 1; she sounded a bit bad but once I watched via the actual game it wasn't bad. A lot of people have been saying she has a high pitched voice which I'm not registering or hearing. To be honest I sometimes hear something quite opposite: to me one of Vanille's battle victory phrases maker her sound old and not shrieking old but Granny from Looney Tunes. I'm not sure which phrase it is I'll check that later but it makes her sound old.


Everyone has been good so far as well and I don't have a problem with any of them; of course I'm pretty accepting of English voice-acting, I had no problem with FFX hell I find Magna Carta: Tears of Blood to be decent at times, I just don't hate on English voice-acting indescriminately.

You kidding about the FFX part? You must either have the patience of a middle school teacher, or just aren't annoyed by Meg Ryan's dialogue and voice acting. Hats off to you man, but still..

I still have no idea who it is, I don't watch TV hah. I was thinking more along the lines of an anime or another game or something.

Through just the trailers, I first found the voice acting to be a disappointment. Now actually playing the game, I think they've done a really good job! I am in awe with Fang's voice actor, I'm melting in my sofa whenever she makes conversation. The voiceactor for Sazh is my other favourite, and him having (imo) the most realistic human face, he's got the best of facial expression features. I guess it comes with actually looking more like a human, and not just a sleet basic faced porcelain doll..face. Oh Tetsuya Nomura, you and you're incredibility when it comes to character differencing.

The only voice actor I had problems with at first was Carrot's. I was just all..whu at her super squeaky voice. But I've grown more and more fond of her and her person in general now.
Lightning's voice doesn't stand out all that much really, and neither does Hope's or Snow's. But I still haven't found them stiff or anything. Really good voice acting in this game, I'm really pleased.

Most of the cast did a good job. The issue with the voice acting was not really the delivery, but it was more the script that bogged down the dialogue. The game goes overboard with the jargon.

And then we have the voice actress for Vanile. When I first listened to Vanile's voice, I thought that it was some person who was trying to imitate an Australian accent. There are so many instances throughout the game where she "forgets" her accent that I thought this hunch was true.

And then I found out that an actual Australian person did Vanile's voice.

All I can say is epic fail on Cuylenburg's part because a non-Australian person did a better accent than her.

Rachel Elizabeth Robinson had a much better performance as Fang – and she is from Los Angeles. Though I thought her accent was fine, I have read about some people saying that her delivery is too much like a "bogan."

And don't me wrong – Robinson does have a few delivery hiccups, like when she says "chance" the American way in the tunnel area.
