Doesnt matter how old it is, if i wanna ruin FF6 ill go read the FF6 forum, theres absolutely no need for you to be even talking about specifics in this threads, why the **** you're even talking about it is beyond me!
I was waiting on it to be revamped for 3DS or something like it in the future, now i dont see the point with you blurting out spoilers like a fuckin idiot..
To be honest, this almost feels like a hate thread, just say'in. Anyways, I myself wouldn't mind seeing how a modernized FF7 would look. Something tells me if a remake were come to fruition, the whole compilation of FFVII would have an HD remaster (ala KH 1.5 & 2.5). The bike racing mobile game that is coming out soon is a good example of how Square can modernize the world in FFVII, the elements in the bike racing game have been changed around to give the game more life so it wouldn't be just a simple port of the original G-bike mini game.
Who knows, Square might already be secretly working on the entire compilation and trying their hardest not to let slip anything about the details of the remake. I mean, they do have elements from FFVII spin-offs that they can use to recreate the world in modern specs. Dirge of Cerberus has a nice list of locations like Kalm, Shinra Manor, Midgar, and the hidden area behind the waterfall where Lucrecia resides. Crisis Core has an updated Nibelheim, Junon, Costa Del Sol, and Gongaga.
Lets be realistic here though, if square kept focusing on remakes and direct sequels, the quality of the FF franchise is going to suffer. Because that would mean development time will expand to longer periods due to the time it takes to develop the direct sequels and remakes on top of other games.

How could you guys not like the funky time compression cutscene in FF8 and the whole idea behind it? It's one of the coolest things ever. And so what if the characters are teenagers with teenager attitudes? Teenagers can do incredible things just like adults can and that's just part of life. The thing is, they all worked together and because of Quintis' leadership did amazing things, faced the craziest and most bent villain who tried to compress the universe's time and fabric and create chaos unlike any other.
Anyhow, every good FF should be remade, because any way you look at it outdated graphics become a turn off in some way at some point in time. And considering the FF7 fanbase is still huge, they should definitely do a remake of it as well.

I think making the main cast of ff8 teenagers made for a more interesting story.. its better to use the term young adult though, because seriously, they have experienced far more shit than any standard teenager in reality could ever imagine facing. Death, monsters, combat, political warfare etc. Dealing with all that shit and trying to handle their feelings and emotions made for a very interesting cast of characters. I wont agree that the focus of the game was solely on the relationship between Squall and Rinoa, thats just not true. Each character had a storyline. Quistis accepting shes not good enough to be a leader, Zell learning to handle his emotions, Selphie and her cute little musical comic relief, Irvine and his lonliness, Seifer and his yearning to belong (so overlooked imo), then obviously we have squall and rinoa who need no explanation, then lets not forget about Laguna! geeze, so much stuff.
Aye, ff7 thread.
Remember when George Lucas said "hey let's do shit to Star Wars IV-VI"? That's why.
FF7 is a classic, and in my opinion, ought to stay one.
Instead of a remake of an already over-milked (although still amazing) franchise, Square Enix could, I dunno... Go back to making Final Fantasy games that don't make me question my sexuality with such pretty boys?
Remakes can make or break a game, and in Square's current state (pretty boys, horrible overpriced iOS/Steam games, etc...) I feel like if they tried to remake and recapture the magic of the older games (V-IX) it would end in disaster.
I think we should have a remake for this.
I think the question should be "why should we have a remake for FFVII?" I mean, why? There are now 13 main titles, main storylines in the series, and VII is the one that should be remade? Why? It's not even that dated, at least it was 3D unlike all those before it. It was also one of the most popular FF titles there's been, which makes it a much bigger risk to remake it than other, less popular titles. I really don't see why so many people cry for a FFVII remake, especially considering it's had more spin offs and extras than any of the other games in the series.
"Everyone was so happy. 'Great job. You did it. You saved us... all.' There were too many smiles to count.
But now...When I look back... The people who should be here aren't.
The ones who should be smiling with me aren't here."
