I like Omega Weapon from FF8.
He was the 1st superboss I beat in the series and that Terra Break attack he did was awesome.
It could wipe out your whole party and look good doing it!
HEY HEY KIDS ITS ANOTHER ONE OF TIDUS' TOPICS FOR TODAY. AND PLEASE IF I HAVE TO REPHRASE THE QUESTION IM GONNA BE VERY UPSET.
Which OPTIONAL boss battle is your favorite.
Mine is Emerald Weapon from FF7, come on youre underwater and timed and should be dead from drowning but its all good.

Omega Weapon, FF VIII. Both challenging and awesome, I even developed my own strategy on how to beat this guy. Never ever used holy wars while facing Omega Weapon, and never will, that's just sacrilege.

I was never that good.
1st time I beat him I modded a load of Holy Wars.
2nd time I didn't mod any but I still had a few Heroes
I got my ass handed to me first few times, I just kept experimenting, trying out different tactics, honestly I didn't even knew about hero drinks and holy wars until my third playthrough, they just seem to be a cheap mean to gain victory.

My favourite would have to be the Pylraster from XII, one of the final regular Hunts. The battle wasn't particularly special but it was the first difficult Boss in XII where I managed to put together a strategy in order to beat it.
Put simply it went something like: Give Vaan the Demond Shield and Main Gauche and cast Decoy on him. Give Ashe the Flame Staff and have her cast Fira whenever she wasn't healing (it hits you really, really hard), and give Basch a strong bow and Fire Arrows and cast buffs like Protectga, Faith, Decoy and Hastga whenever needed. Vaan absorbs and evades the dino's hits (until Decoy wears off) Ashe deals the most damage (9999!) with a Flame Staff+fire weakness boosted Fira as well as healing any damage Vaan has taken, and Basch deals some extra damage and keeps everybody happy with the appropriate buffs. I think I was around level 70 at this point.
This wasn't a very fast strategy, as the Pylraster had over 700,000 HP, but it worked. Hastega made all the difference though, I died several times before I realised I needed to use it.

Currently Playing:
Pillars of Eternity (PC)
I play Magic! See what decks im playing or building here!
I'm going to hand this one to wrexsoul from FFVI because in order to beat him, you have to attack your own party until their health is low for him to reappear. Of course you could simply use X-Zone, but that defeats the purpose of this battle
Currently Playing:
Genesis' girlfriend..sry Minerva. Being the strongest optional secret boss in CC akin to my other favourites- optional superbosses Ruby & Emerald Weapon in FFVII. She's a Fun boss but not as fun as Ruby & Emerald cause in you are not in a partyand there's no one to aid you when you are K.Oed. Worth unlocking. Took me 20 mins-ish to beat her on my 2nd go during my 1st playthrough since the CC jp version (I only play) gets you a Gameover every time you fail a mission unlike the English versions.
I think Zodiark from FFXII is my favorite, especially because you get something useful from the fight to boot. Difficult getting burst damage in between immunity phases and some seriously nasty damage/instant KO to contend with. A nasty customer especially if it puts you on the ropes with some players down. Definitely one that you would need all your characters ready to fight (and die) for. Plus it took much better usage of your gambit system than some giant dragon for instance. I didn't have a single empty gambit slot on any of the six characters for that fight.
Plus it wasn't so bloody long like Yiazmat, stupid boss, stupid hitpoints bars...

Well as for this it is diffrent from me than many others. FFVII tthe Weapons can be challenging but most times I beat them first try unless they come up with something new (which RARELY happens!). As for FFVIII I failed to defaeat Omega Weapon mainly because I was stupid enough (my first and second playthrough!) to turn my ten Holy War items into Knights Codes but I intend to do this game again and I WILL NOT make the same mistake again! FFIX I knew nothing about Ozma so need to do that one again too to give him a whooping. As for FFX I have not manged to beat Penance he is definately the hrdest of the FF optional bosees (that I have fought) I intend to redo this game and acquire some better armour before challenging him again, my GF can do it so I know I can do it too!
My favorite boss battle is ff7 ruby and emrald weapon because they are challenging even though I can defeat them every first time with no problem. I like the boss battle in ff8 the omega weapon that is easy to do with the holy wars but if you do it without you would die. Another good boss battle is ozma yeah he is tough but beatable. I have defeated ozma in ff9 that's a good fight. The hardest boss battle in ffx is defenately penance I have defeated penance without using the summon yojimbo it was the hardest fight ever but it is doable it took me two hours that fight did.
