I am designing a video game based off of Final fantasy, with my own mythology, summons and... you know haha
Are these some good ideas?
AWS (Active weather system)- It automatically generates weather depending on cloud formations, climate, what not. As in, it might be snowing one day, and the other, clear skies...
ADS (Active day system)- It renders day from night. This allows stronger monsters to appear at night, dawn, dusk, day. It allows summons like diablos to increase his power.
Summons level up, weapons level up and evolve them.
Summons are named Sacred Guardians. I have 4 new summons named
Nimbus, Novea, Minerva (not new, but first time as a summon) and Gaith.
Each character has 2 Personal Sacred Guardians, exclusively to them.
Then there are "expendable guardians".
Expendable guardians are unlocked during the SGW (Sacred guardian war)
After completing certain achievements, you unlock them in a certain shop for sale at 10,000 Nm a piece.
If these are good ideas, I will share some of the storyline and other innovations
Edit: Opps, forgot, there are 16 SG's and 20 expendable summons, DLC cheats, 15 weapons per person, 30 Super monsters, 372 monsters, 57 bosses, alternative ending and extra super boss final fight...

Reason: Forgot
I don't really understand the SG stuff, but all of the other ideas sound recycled. The weather system has been already somewhat implemented in FF13, what are you trying to accomplish with it this time, are you trying to add on to it, or what? Your day/night idea has already been in various game series, like Enix's Dragon Quest or Atlus's Shin Megami Tensei (it was BIG for this series) games.
Summon/Weapon levelups? Already been done (ff8/ff13).
I think they could be pretty fun to implement, but it all depends on execution. What do you have in mind?

Then again this one is kind of on the outs with me if she doesn't straighten up and fly right so that means I will be back in it for the thrill of the kill. Got some in the reserves. Even got a rePETEr (<---- like that ay? AYYYYY?) on the back burner.

To Rocky: Yes, you are right about the weather system in FF13, but they didn't have any precipitation, just fog, smog, cloudy days, or clear days. Other than chapter 6 in the waterscape.
Oh yes, the time system will be major for ingame progression, side-hunts, finding a few special SG's (sacred guardians- which are summons), Certain stores will be closed at night, sell only certain things at night, certain hunts only availiable at night...
Yes, the weapons and summons leveling up has been done, but in my game, the weapons absorb experiance like the main characters. and eventually, they reach max, around Lv 25- to the final upgrades 99.
Example...
The main characters weapon, the Fait Rain, follows this chart...
Think as it as areas as big as FF13's archilette steep (SP), Story more in depth than any FF EVER!, and controls like Dirge of Cerberus with 3 active main characters, in which you can choose the active leader lol
Fait Rain- level 25 to evolve
Blood Sword- Level 35 to upgrade (requires 5 bloodstained necklaces to upgrade)
Dieities bane- Level 60 to upgrade
Dayspring- Level 99 to upgrade (requires Ultima Matter)
Same thing as summons.
For example...
Odins special is the zantetsuken. If he reaches LV 10, he gains Shin-Zantetsuken and so on...
Oh and the weather system, in older FF's, the characters get hurt walking in certain terrains, like lava, acid, ice spikes... In this game, the characters can get hurt and status ailments through things like a blizzard, thunderstorm, and even a Electromagnetic storm (special).
But don't worry, these things won't be littered all over the place.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, I shouldn't say anything in-depth but, in order to gain Odin, you must wait in a field named Ianese Plains for a whole 3 days (about 2 hours in game) , then follow the sound of his horses footsteps, and then walk up an invisible stairway to the blue Haven, just to traverse through the side- quest for Odin.
Oh, and if you fight him during dawn, the "blue Haven" will be completely different from the version if you were at dusk.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is alot but...
My game controls are button placed, as in X= jump, R1= Cure Left D-pad= Choose target and stuff like that.
It's an RPG, but it also has actions like Dirge of cerberus. (but funner lol)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh and, just imagine that your other characters don't disappear when you summon O.-
The Expendable SG's are basically Items that you use for a quick boost in battle, but they cost alot for the time.
It's basically FF13s Archelitte steppe sized areas, Best FF storyline ever, and Dirge of cerberus' action with smoother running, and fun
Oh and thanks alisbet!

Well, it certainly "sounds" interesting, you have some great ideas there, though it seems like a lot of work, especially if you're working alone on this. Anyways, I for once would love try this game, how soon can we expect a demo, or at least few screenshots.
Well, my story, characters, whole bestiary, every side-quest, everything is complete. I literally am just waiting to set up an company named Ascension heights studios. I cannot do all of this on my own do to the amount of time I predict for a first time run through. About 90+ hours or so lol.
Anything you wanted to see in other Final fantasy games but couldn't?
I wanna see some triple triad action like FF8 style. I swear to God that I was like the only person in the entire world that understands the system and how the whole random/difference/sudden death/combo rules take place.

Sounds pretty sweet.
I'd say you have the innovation covered (some of those things have been done, but not together that I know of and that in itself would feel unique).
One thing I have wanted to see in a newer JRPG is an identifiable main character who isn't a gangly 10-25 year old Male. I don't think that's been done since SNES days...
If you do plan on actually making the game, I'd recommend making sure you don't use any SE trademarks though, or attempt to get permission. While I have seen several great fan games, many get a cease and desist which is quite sad in some cases. Good luck with everything.
Rocky: Oh, I have a mini-game which is like Bestiary chess. It has it's own rules.
You use chess pieces made in shape after Monsters like malboros and stuff. Each piece has it's own attack and HP, rarity level and stuf hahaha.
Silver: Thanks for your support. Oh and, I plan to attempt permission, or work as a branch company, once I get everything together. It will actually take me about 2 years to set up everything. I still need to finish japanese language lesson haha.
Oh, and the main character, it is a 19 year old, But, you don't, for the most part, have to worry about the sad or depressed part.
He has his Character development PERFECTLY achieved.
Main characters names...
Laon- Main character
Single handed long sword- Paladin like abilities
Marrick- Laons brother, dies during Celestrial incident
Same as Laon, but uses dark knight abilities
Haan- Laons Best friend
Spears and lances- Dragoon like abilities
Shinji- Marricks best friend
Ninjatos and shuriken- Ninja like abilities
Aston- More of a unidentifiable ally, untrustworthy
Grieves- monk in a way
Sariena- An arcane sage, thinks of herself as Marricks girlfriend, though not
Dagger- Arcane Sage
Yuri- Sarienas sister, which she hasn't seen for about 7 years
Bow and arrows- White sage
Tris- A young geomancer. You can say she is the selphie, yuffie of the gang lol
Giant Boomerang- Geomancer like abilities
Naris- She owns a boat in which she get's pulled along the circumstances...
Gun, and explosives- Pirate type abilities
If any of those sound bad, let me know please
Oh, and I am a pianist, a guitarist, and learning the violin, so I will be making music as well
How about some terrain changes...? This could work especially well if you're including a weather system...Or maybe even have trails degrade over time depending on how you walk through them. Walk a path long enough and you'll uncover some buried treasure or random shiny goodness poking out of the weathered ground...
Wow, that is a very good Idea. Hmm, I could fit it in perfectly.
Lets see, I have a swamp, desert, impact crater, comet crags, ice forest, sunrains forest, Moonlight knolls... Yea, they would fit perfect.
I think you have some great ideas for actual gameplay for your own final fantasy game. but good luck getting that sold to Square Enix, unless you can fund the thing yourself and offer a split of the money without them spending a dime. then they will more than likely take it.
the company only sticks to what they have and what they trust. its japanese business, and JRPG's now do not care for gameplay, like the writer of final fantasy XIII said yeah you can make a game that focuses on gameplay but it has no story and he makes their games all about story and little to do with any gameplay much like the gameplay of XIII.
if anything i think it would be an awesome project to do for 32bit style graphics to start to see how the system works. then once you have the basics you can try to send it to them and say hey- i did this with only a cheat RPG maker. put me to work on this game with your production crew and ill sell you an amazing game.
don't worry about Square enix stealing your ideas, everyone knows they don't care what fans want. they do what they want.
as for making 13 seem redundant.. yeah too late. no one had to try to get the pony moving.
me im ill get into classic 2D games, just allow me to rename the character and pick a job class and im one happy pappy. and no emo's but if you insist on one being in there i hope its shot out of a canon.
Well, if you're including time of day and weather, you might as well create seasons to go with it. And everyone knows, if you have seasons, you have to have festivals, birthdays, things of that nature. Maybe a character gains extra stats, fol, and exp on their birthday. Seasons would also give you a greater expnse for the AWS. Snow would appear in the winter month, but rain the others. Things of that nature. FFXII did that, for 2 or 3 areas. haha.
Hey dude sounds like a awesome game I am just questioning what program are you using and will it be on a console or a pc game? I am also woorking on a game but haven't done anything, I am just getting the program up and running.
Neoaquarius12-
Seasons would be cool, but I would literally have to change the whole story line for that to work. Several areas change, which resembles seasons, but I don't think I could do that. I am thinking on ways to try though.
Oh, and if anybody wants to see my story, give me your Email And I will show you.
Oh and I'm not using any special program yet, I'm just using RPG maker xz or something like that
I would love to have seasons, but that would impose too much of a threat to the story, I would try to change the storyline, but I don't think I can.lol
And my character isn't emo, per-say I think?
If anybodies interested in looking into my storyline, just give me their Email and I would love to share it with you
