How do YOU pronounce "Gil"?

I pronounce it like the gill of a fish. That might not be right, but I started the FF series before I knew how to pronounce Japanese words. Old habits die hard.

well.. i pronounced "Gil" using a (g) just like the word "Gate". I like that pronunciation because it make me comfort everytime i pronounce it..
so that's why until now i keep saying it using a (g)

Nope, I'm English and me and everyone I know say Gil. As you can see, other Americans have said Jill, and that doesn't mean the whole of America does! Same goes for other countries. I say Gil because its like Gold, as in currency which is what Gil is. Plus it sounds better.

I like saying it like "jill" like the name of my girlfriend.

and when I mean girlfriend, I am talking about my hand.

I pronounce it gil, like everyone's favorite unsuccessful salesman Gil Gunderson.

I say it with a hard g. Like fish gills, or gate. :)

Huh. You know, I never even thought about that word possibly being pronounced like "Jill." Now I'm confused...but whatever. I'll just keep saying (fish) gil like I have before. It's too late to change now.

I pronounce it like the girl's name "Jill".

In my country in most chapter the word "Gil" is translated into "Guil" so it's very rare to find the "Gil" word(only if I play non translated chapter).

When I find it I'll read it like "Jill" because in my mother language if "G" is before a vowel is read in this way^^"

But I read it in this way only for habit. :)

Myself and all my friends have allways called it Jill. You guys have messed my head up, now I think that Gil with a 'g' strong pronunciation sounds right. Bah.

This happened last year with Chocobo. My friends and I say 'Cuccoo-boo' then some dude at comic-con london told me it was 'choco-bow' and BOOOM! My mind exploded. Now 'coccoo-boo' doesnt even look right. My childhood memories are crumbling with an fast enclosing world of bad pronunciation.

I'm pretty sure Oaka, (merchant extraordinaire) :P in FFX pronounces it 'gil' as in 'g' for gate.

I've always pronounced it gil, as in a fish's GILLS.

see.. i say jill but i switch out the j in english to the j in espanol so its pronounced "hill" and thats how it goes....
cant tell me nothin!!!
