Final Fantasy online? Why?

I acknowledge that there may be some who really enjoy XI and XIV. I don't care for them.

Why do they insist on producing more online versions? Are they actually profitable? Is there really a big market for them? I've read that XIV is quite a failure so far . . .

I'm honestly instantly turned off when I hear that a Final Fantasy is online only.

Just curious what y'all think.

I've said it before, but I wish they would at least not include the online-only titles as a part of the main numbered series. You know, just name then Final Fantasy Online or something.

I agree. It gets on my tits when I hear there's a new game coming out, only to find out it's online. They don't even count for me. I've yet to meet a person that really loved the online games. The reason XIV was made online was as mentioned above- the online games are big money makers.

Just because it's online doesn't mean it's not the Final Fantasy feel. The game has epic story lines just as good at the rest of the series.

As a loooonnnnngggg time player of online games (as well as hundreds of RPG's going back to the 80's) I would like to try XI online but I find ZERO forums? Any ideas where I can go to learn about the game?
I played WoW up until Wrath of the Lich King and then gave up on it. Played ArchAge until it became PvP or nothing. Played EVE until it became massive fleets or don't leave the home system...and if you didn't it was really boring. Played a lot of the others but not really RPGs.... HELP

You can try searching for 'FFXI Asura forums' or any of the server names for that matter. FFXIclopedia | Fandom powered by Wikia can help you with stuff in game as for quests and some comments. The game is better searching for it with no help but the game is a bit different now.

WoW is REALLY good now, they are on the new trilogy of expansions/games (every 3 games the game changes, look at the history) so I highly recommend giving it a try over all right now.

If your PC can handle it, FF14 is fun, some prefer it over WoW. New Expansion this summer?

EVE takes WAY too much time to get anywhere but it can be amazing.

I'm gonna go with WoW and then maybe check out Asura on FFXI. It has 1k players most the day and in peak hours it's popping in at least the major places people visit and go to.

Saw FFXI on Steam and was surprised it's still going and selling. How long does it take to progress your characters to decent and capable levels?

Leveling is a joke in FFXI and sort of a boring experience now. You can quickly level in the game now to Max level. That was half the fun back in the day. Most the time I see people just completing missions and stuff with people and then go off to level solo with their Trusts (Companions who fight with you).
