I'm really okay with the thought just as long as its not like XenoSaga were all it is, is just bunch of freaking cutscenes after another. That game was more like a anime with some interaction than a video game -.-;
Square Enix has revealed that its major franchises are likely to start being released episodically within the next three years.
The firm, which develops and publishes the Final Fantasy series - and owns publisher Eidos - recently released UK No.1 Just Cause 2 and is gearing up for the release of Nier later this month.
"Will we see our games split into episodes? It's not something that we are particularly planning, but I've no doubt that we will be over the next three years," Square Enix CEO Phil Rogers told industry site Develop.
When asked how the firm viewed DLC in general, he said:
"Digital is now a massive part of our focus. How we offer content to consumers via digital download is very important to us, and premium downloadable content is an absolute must for the titles that we launch."
I'm not sure what to make of this really. One of the reasons i like Final Fantasy games is knowing i can play for hours on end but still have a lot to do the next time i log on.

Hmmm, I'm not too fond of that. I can understand if they did that with FF titles that aren't apart of the main series (Like FF VII: BC and the FF IV on the wii, I can't quite remember the name) but if they do that with the main series, that will be terrible. I think they are probably planning to do this so they could get more money. Instead of releasing a new FF at £40-50, they could release a four or five episodes at like £20 a pop. And dedicated FF fans will feel obligated to buy it.
It's actually kinda sad because I always got the impression that SE cared about their fans and put effort into their games, but now they are just churning out mediocre, generic games with great graphics so that they can appeal to the mass-market. I mean, they used Leona Lewis for FF XIII's themes song for crying out loud! But I'm not berating them, they are a business after all.
I'm all for premium content.
Why? FFXIII felt big and complete, right?
Well DLC was announced for it. DLC which'll just mean even more gameplay for me if I want it.
Some developers would leave me a bit worried and some have already proven to be bad (tiny unlock keys as 'DLC' anyone?), but Square Enix don't strike me as the types to do that kind of thing.

I wouldn't mind episodes, as long as every individual episode can stand as its own game. As long as I'm not buying 3 1/3 games for full price, I can live with episodes.
For Our Lord Sheogorath, without Whom all Thought would be linear and all Feeling would be fleeting. Blessed are the Madmen, for they hold the keys to secret knowledge. Blessed are the Phobic, always wary of that which would do them harm. Blessed are the Obsessed, for their courses are clear. Blessed are the Addicts, may they quench the thirst that never ebbs. Blessed are the Murderous, for they have found beauty in the grotesque. Blessed are the Firelovers, for their hearts are always warm. Blessed are the Artists, for in their hands the impossible is made real. Blessed are the Musicians, for in their ears they hear the music of the soul. Blessed are the Sleepless, as they bask in wakeful dreaming. Blessed are the Paranoid, ever-watchful for our enemies. Blessed are the Visionaries, for their eyes see what might be. Blessed are the Painlovers, for in their suffering, we grow stronger. Blessed is the Madgod, who tricks us when we are foolish, punishes us when we are wrong, tortures us when we are unmindful, and loves us in our imperfection.
So for E.g. If Square-Enix released a remake or a new Final Fantasy, would the Game be released in parts (Like disc's) or am i getting the wrong idea?

I Think You Anime/Manga Fans would really like it!!
^ Hmm... I'm not sure if I'm understanding this either. Though I'm pretty sure that it means that it will be released in parts though, and when a new part is available, you have to either download it or buy it. As for how it will be released (either via disk or digital), it's still pretty vague as to what is being planned.
I think the only FF game that I know of that was released in "episodes" was FF IV: The After Years, and that's just if you wanted to see what happened with the events outside the main story.
Well, I haven't gotten my PS3 or Wii to get to the networks to do this sort of thing, so if they decide to do this, I'll be sort of boned... Really hope that I can just buy disks for the games.
Click at your own risk.:
That would be an interesting twist to the games. I hope this possible episodic twist would mean that the story itself would be the full game just every part was like episode 1: this happened and then you complete that section and save the game and then you proceed onto episode 2: another happening.
In summary I don't mind the idea as long as the whole game is in the disk itself without having to go download episodes off the PSN or something of that sort. I only want to spend as much as 50-60 for a game, not 5-10 dollars extra for the parts of the game that weren't included in the disk thats required for you to play the whole story.
Currently Playing:
If that means that they will be anything like the dotHack games that were like 4 separate games and you had to continue to buy at full price I wouldn't be happy at all. If it's like add ons through PSN like Assassin's Creed is doing now that'd be ok though. Just depends to me
Wanna Know More:
I like the idea of old games being episodic with downloadable content. like playing 6 and 5 on the wii, and download new content to do after you beat the game or during to make the game play more interesting. stuff like that. or even new sprites which would be cool. if you off the customer base something that they would download. plus something for individual needs it would really open the market.
