    Final Fantasy Glitches.

Well, being as the title says, has anyone here encountered any glitches upon playing any Final Fantasy I-XIII?
I know I have. Not a major one, but a small one. I was playing VII today and was at the roller coaster track right before the Gold Saucer, and when I met up with Tifa, she said to go around and flip the switch in the shack because she was too lazy. Then I see a brown lump behind her. After walking over/through it, I was able to talk to it, and realized it was Barret (whom I called Mr T ) and then found myself stuck. Inside Mr T... Yes I know the irony of being stuck inside Mr T is humiliating.

So does anyone have a story of which can top mine? I mean, its not that hard... I just got stuck inside Mr T...

    Re: Final Fantasy Glitches.

I look for them online and take advantage of them, because I'm lame like that.

Some of my favorites belong to FFVI. Like the Psycho Cyan glitch which is the perfect boss destroyer, or the Resetting Levels glitch which would, in theory, allow me to have maximum stats by replaying several times using different Espers to power different stats.

And that Banish Trap glitch from Dissidia is so helpful, too.

Another one I've seen is still in Dissidia, involving another menu glitch. I can't help but shake the feeling I've talked about this before... I think I did, in a Dissidia glitches thread or something.

But I've seen some unusual/harmful glitches before, most belong to Dissidia. For example, very randomly, when you win a battle, it WOULD go to the victory screen, but the battle music continues endlessly and its the white screen of death. No choice but to reset.

I've also seen some kind of weird menu glitch. The Home button activates on its own, the music cuts out, and the opponents stops in his tracks for a minute. The music eventually resumes, and the opponent "wakes up."

Oh well, FF is still chuck full of glitches even after all these years.

I'm going through a bit of a The World Ends With You phase right now.

    Re: Final Fantasy Glitches.

Played each of my Final Fantasy's more then 2 times and I haven't yet to encounter any "game" problems. I have had a few disk issues that happened in the game due to a bad disk or even a dirty laser, or even bad memory.

    Re: Final Fantasy Glitches.

Never really came across a game glitch that I could exploit or anything for my benefit, unless popping the lid open on your Playstation so the the game stalls and you have more time to look for Selphie's "The End" spell counts. If it does, then I totally do that.

Other that that, I'm pretty much in the same boat as Loaf. When I have game problems or when glitches happen, it's usually the machine or the disk that's messed up, and not the actual game.

Only once, though I'm not sure if it counts since it happened while playing a full translated rom of Final Fantasy III for NES.

Anyways, after grinding for some time my Knight suddenly earned a level after every battle, it was still early in the game and I already had a maxed Knight, needless to say I had no problems beating the game really quick.

Idk how it happened but when I was playing 8 the fight with Adel (Disc 4) She was literally invincible. I fought her for 3 hours wasting all of my cure spells and potions trying to beat this boss that should have been dead already. Not one of my smartest moments I thought she was just really strong. Finally I said **** this and checked an online strategy guide to see how much hp she was supposed to have. My "little brother" rofled for days about it. Every time we would play argue he would say "Why don't you go beat Adel again...oh wait you can't, oh noez!" That bitch. (Both him and Adel)

This is where my name comes from for anyone who cares. Btw please don't get the wrong idea. I love Final Fantasy more than any other game series in the whole world.

    Re: Final Fantasy Glitches.

I believe FFVII has the most glitches, bar none. Some of them are quite bad, like being unable to obtain new limit breaks after playing for a number of hours, while others are just awesome. One of the most famous is probably the infinite stamina bug for Chocobo racing, which makes the task of getting a gold chocobo a lot more bearable. I mean seriously, upgrading multiple chocobos across the same farking track over and over and over... but I digress.

My favorite bug in FFVII has to be Vincent's Death Penalty. Frankly, the reason I like it is because it creates a buffer overflow... yeah yeah I'm a programmer. You "only" have to get 65,535 kills with Vincent to get this bug. The fastest method is to just kill your other chars off and spam kill weak-ass monsters, but even then it will take you quite a long time. What's the payoff? You can one-shot kill Emerald Weapon in like 7 seconds. Your damage is so high, it becomes a negative number and the game is like WTF???? and just instant kills the monster.

It's really too much work for just that. I had a lot more fun killing the Weapons with Yuffie wearing 8 Counter materia(among other things) and her ultimate weapon. Watching Yuffie slam the weapons with 8 counter attacks every time they made a move was worth the time to level... Bosses that do multi-hit attacks are even more fun. 8X counters for each hit...

I've found other bugs on my own, but I can't remember them at the moment.

I'm surprised that everyone is forgetting about the creating items out of thin air bug in FFVII that is probably the easiest and most useful bug that exists in the game. There is the W-Item materia that you get, later into the game, that allows you to use two items in a single turn. However, if you select the same item twice, but don't confirm the items to be used and back out to the second item selection you'll be given back the item you selected. You keep doing that over and over again and you can get 99 of any item you want. It is the easiest way to get 99 Elixirs and Hero Drinks. Then you can just spam hero drinks against the Ruby Weapon fight and do like 9999 damage without really having to do a ton of leveling. So long as you have two of the item you can endlessly duplicate it.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

    Re: Final Fantasy Glitches.

There's over 70 known glitches in FFVII, I saw no reason to laundry-list all of them. Feel free to read them all.

Personally I found getting a third Mystile more useful than the W-Item bug. I was leveling to 99 for max completion anyway, so hero drinks were useless. Plus, there are fun ways to kill Emerald and Ruby weapons, like doing 6X KOTR a turn for 130k each time. So let's see, in one turn I did almost 780,000 damage, then he hit me and Yuffie countered 8X for 9,999 damage for about 860k total. Hero drinks were not even on my radar at that time. ^_^

    Re: Final Fantasy Glitches.

I wish I could remember where I had to go in the game, and what level my Chocobo was but I remember getting stuck somewhere and having to reset.

I parked my ship ( OR Maybe it was the buggie) and then took my Chocobo somewhere, and I couldn't get back to my vehicle ( probably because of my Chocobo type) I know that sounds weird but I can't remember exactly what I did, I may have gone into a cave and came out on the world map somewhere where I couldn't get to either...

I was like WTF! for about half an hour.

EDIT: Oh, I think it may have had something to do with the snowy field where you get Alexander Materia, since you enter that area by going through the little snow village and using the snowboard...maybe.

    Re: Final Fantasy Glitches.

The glitches I experienced in FF games. Out of my memory these are the ones I remember

FFVI: I was in the midst of the statue battles at the very end of the game where you also fight kefka and during that battle general leo jumped in, out of nowhere. all my characters disappeared and he was the only one there, the menu got switched to short and i got these strange kind of commands (don't remember what they were) but i ended up losing the battle with him too.

FFVII: I was plying the PC version one time and i was at the gold saucer i ended up accidently talking to the lady and going to the arm wrestling machine at the same time so i was still cycling through the menus and i ended up with cloud walking around with his arm in the wrestling position and i lost the mini-game.

FFVIII: I was playing it with gameshark codes one day and i entered in a battle and the game froze up with this sound "WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH."

I'll count this too since it happened recently
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers - I was jumping over tables in the ship and after I jumped over this one table my character just hovered there above the ground. I couldn't move him at all, just the cursor with the wii remote.

    Re: Final Fantasy Glitches.

XII - earlier today i was doing the pylraster hunt. i came out of the pharos and descended down the stairs towards the monster. i was controlling fran with a bow while balthier and basch ran down and attacked it. somehow for about 2/3rds of the battle its front half was "stuck" in the stairs.

VII - I was in the train graveyard, and i was taking some of the Hi-Potions from the trash cans. I got to one of them, took the Hi-Potion, and then i was just locked in place. Cloud was spinning the more i tried to move. It was kinda funny, but i had skipped the last save point.

    Re: Final Fantasy Glitches.

The one that makes me laugh everytime is in VII. If you have Vincent in your team when Aeris dies. After the boss and the party is standing around Aeris, Vincent's sprite is distorted, in which his leg is twisted and in the air, other parts of his body are through others. And when he walks away, he tries to walk normally, but he ends up hopping away on one leg.

In the saddest part of the game, Vincent ends up making it hilarious.
