i just made a poll about orlandu versus sephiroth and i thought about their swords, excalibur and masamune. i want to know whats the most popular sword name and out of which games because of the names being reused...therefore can't really do a poll...please keep them as FF games no using like frog's version of masamune from Chrono Trigger.

Buster Sword and Masamune were badass, the Gunblade was badass, Tidus' Caladbolg was badass, even Zidane's Ultima Weapon was. Are you asking which look the coolest, or which I think most people will have as their favorite? I dont understand exactly what it is you are asking, but my favorite would have to be Caladbolg for it's looks, and the Buster Sword for the coolest sword icon.

My fav sword has to be the Brotherhood that Tidus has in FFX.

My favorite was the glowing Ultima Weapon. I liked how it gets bigger when you have more HP (in FFVI, anyway). It seemed more interesting than regular swords, because it looks like it attacks with light rather than steel or whatever other material the other swords are crafted with.

Zantetsuken. It's the coolest looking sword ever. And it kills almost anything.
But in terms of actual character's swords, I'll go with Squall's Revolver. It looks awkward to use (not as awkward as Seifer's), but is really awesome and powerful.
for me i have many.....Zantetsuken(FFVI), Apocalypes(FFVI), Ultima Weapon(FFVI), and Buster Sword (FF:CC)
My favorite is Cloud's ridiculously oversized Buster Sword, which a person of his size probably could never wield in real life (but then again, it's a fantasy, right? So shut up with your logic!) He didn't have to stab his enemies so much as crush them underneath the sheer size and weight of that thing... Unless the enemies were also huge. Then it was big enough to hurt them. And it totally kicked ass when he did his ultimate attack on Sephiroth. And that is probably pretty much the only praise you will ever hear me give that character. Anyhoo...

I find Squall's Revolver Gunblade my personal most favorite sword because it looks awesome for one thing... and another is that he can blow the crap out of his rivals if he pulls the trigger as he strikes.

Practicality wise i would have to choose Aurons regular blade from FFX it is simply and looks very effective which is what i like effectiveness and precision but for looks and just a bad ass sword i would have to go with any of the ridiculous sized swords including Clouds buster and Sephiroths 7 foot katana haha.

Well my favorite sword is probably the Excalibur from Final Fantasy Tactics.
It gives innate haste and, well haste plus Orlandu equals a quickly given death. I also liked the Punisher from Final Fantasy VIII. It was like a bunch of tiny black gunblades fused together to make an ultimate blade only outdone by the Lionheart itself.
Anywho I like Excalibur and gunblades.
(Edit: Seifers Gunblade is the shiz. Don't bash its wierdness)
The Blood Sword in FFIII. It was bad ass by dealing a lot of damage and absorbing HP. Unfortunately, it made some bosses too easy so I didn't use it at all when I replayed the game.
I also kinda liked the Masamune from FFV since it had such a high Critical Hit rate. Having !SShot with Two Swords could take out bosses almost instantly.

Sephiroth's Masamune, though I prefer broadswords but no sword has as much character as Sephiroth's.
I Love.. SquaLL's sword weapon (RevoLver gunbLade).. it's reaLLy unique.. and I think.. onLy FF's the one who created/think of using it in the game.. Like, gun + sword = gunbLade!
ALso.. I Love.. Auron's weapon.. it's not Like some of the other cLassic sword.. 'coz it's more Like a katana or it is a katana.. (Long sword)
In my opinion.. FFVIII got the most cooLest and unique weapon ever! :-)

To add to my list of friggen awesome swords, I would like to add the sword of kings from Final Fantasy XII.
It was a weak weapon as far attack, but it had a block that at the time I got it no shield could match. Also when I get board of killing everything in like two hits I equip that and go training, so its ideal for training.
Also I would add the Nargrarock(Spelling?) from Final Fantasy Tactics. This sword is weak...its weaker then the broadsword but it turns people into frogs and has a defence of 50 so I respect it.
Buster sword, no doubt one of my favorite weapons ever.

The Masamune. It has appeared in all the games (except apparantly FFXI), and I think that's pretty cool. Kind of like there's a legacy or something behind it, or maybe just because the game developers like having recurring elements in these games.
I also happen to think that the Gunblade is a pretty neat idea for a weapon. Not just from FF VIII, but I'd also like to see it in action in FF XIII. Apparantly, you are able to switch between the two, either to use it as a sword or a gun.

My favorite sword out of the ENTIRE Final Fantasy series I think would have to be the Lightbringer - "Legendary Sword of the Heavens" from FFVI Advance
