tactics sequal

I've never played the tactics advance games but i thought the original tactics was more popular. So if thats the case my question is why did tactics advanced get a sequal and not tactics? And please no one say tactics WOTL is a sequal.

Also on a side note, if i loved the original tactics would i like tactics advanced/advanced 2? Or would they just piss me off?

I never knew why FFT never got a sequel. I was rather pissed that it never did.

I think most people would enjoy FFTA/FFTA2 they are pretty good games.

I don't remember the timeline exactly but I know FFXII happened way before Tactics, I believe that Tactics happens last. I honestly don't want to see a sequel to Tactics, the war ended, they would have to start another war. What I would rather see if a prequel to tactics, and not the 50 year war...although the 50 year war would be a great addition to Tactics, I want to see how the world of Ivalice went from FFXII to Tactics. The catastrophe that happened on that world to take it back to the dark ages, the downfall of Ivalice's golden years.

I for one would love to play as Barbarenth during the 50 years war. It would be nice to fight along side the great TG Cid.

A Prequel would be more appreciated than a sequel.

It'd be nice though to see a few more FFXII/FFTA references in the FFT world.

(I'm a big fan of Balthier in FFT WOTL.)

I believe the reason FFT never got a sequel because it was originally a Tactics Ogre game, but Square bought out Quest or something like that, and that's how they got the engine for FFT.

But who really knows. All I know is that FFT wasn't really 'made' by square. xP

So? Red Dead Revolver wasn't made by Rockstar but it still got a sequel. Rockstar just messed with it a little bit, slapped their name on it and released it. Much to the same thing Square did to Tactics.

Whether or not Square "made" FFT is irrelevant. Given that they've taken the world of Ivalice that FFT established and pumped out several titles based in it, it basically makes it theirs. FFT, Vagrant Story, FFTA, FFXII, FFTA2, Revenant Wings... Why not a game taking place during the 50 Year War? Fans of the original would buy the everloving shit out of it. Square's marketing strategies confuse me sometimes.

"Oh, the fans would like this. Maybe we should do it!"

"Not a chance in hell. Let's completely bastardize the story and set in the same mythical land 1000 years in the past. Plus, somehow establish its future as a small American town. Yeah. That's a better idea."
