Complexity through simplicity.

Ok, this will probably be one of the slowest moving threads in TFF history because my time for art is actually very limited.

I have recently rediscovered my passion for art and drawing. I have spent a lot of time trying to redifine my skills but I figure I should show off what I have been able to accomplish thus far.

Right now I am only going to post the first pic which is a tribute to Sleepy Hallow that I did late October / early November.

I am currently working on a piece for one of my lady friends that I am hoping to have done over the next couple of nights.

Anything I work on is generally accompanied by a signature which is actually a nickname I have had for many years and still use on my work today which is the name "Snipes"

(not the picture quality sucks and I will add in more pics of it when I can actually find my damn digital camera cord. There is a hell of a lot of detail that is blurred out.)


Oh and I forgot I did a design for Froggie a while back but I guess I can throw that one on here too

I signed this one as Meier Link so that she would know it was done by me and would of been to complicated to explain where the "Snipes" signature I usually put into my pics.

Do you have to use anything as a reference when you draw your works? Specifically, I'm asking about the lizard and the Headless Horseman pieces. Your lizard has great contours and looks really cute. :3 The HH peice looks pretty badass.

The work with all the keys looks awesome as well. Parts of it look like it'd made for a neat tattoo design. If I'd criticize anything, some of the keys in that piece look a little "flat" to me, like they need a bit more work done with the shading to help give off a look of depth and dimension, imo. However, the outline work is done very well.

Actually it is all from my mind.

The headless horsemen one was kind of a stab at Harry Potter and people making reference to the latest movie as the Hallows.

The lizard was made for Froggie as a tat design.

The keys one was also some what intended for a tat design but in a different manner. A friend told me briefly what she wanted and in turn I drew up a couple designs to get more of an idea of what she was looking for.

I love what you've done in grayscale, though. The keys are definitely my favorite, though. Although the central design draws your eye to its simplicity, its offset by the complexity of the keys. All in all, symmetrical and asymmetrical at the same time. Very nice. ^_^

Oh yeah, I am curious; Is there any particular way you have to put images into these posts? I tried, but it just made them links.

To put images into the post you have to use the image tags

You have to remove the space in the closing tag though.

And thank you. I have a few projects going on right now but they are all slow moving seeing the kids have been keeping me super busy and Red Dead has caught most of my other free time.

I have to say that my fave piece is the keyblade one, though I am quite a fan of the ol' liazrd dude. I'm glad you've said C&C is welcome as I'd feel like something of an idiot to hand some out when the reality is that I couldn't draw anything half as good. The main thing I noticed was that there's a fair bit of detail on the objects surrounding the keys with shading etc, (the wings in the bottom right are epic) but I don't really see a massive amount of details on the keys themselves. Granted, I can understand that it is probably pretty hard to put much more detail onto such a simple object but there ya go. I suppose it's good news that nitpicking at such things is the biggest criticism I can have. Hope to see more in the future.

Currently have a few in work but right now my time with the pencil and paper are rather limited. I have done a few tat designs over the last few weeks. When I finish up some of the others I will gladly make a mass post.
