Album Cover Designs

Okay, so I was thinking about the artwork/design found on some of my c.d. covers. Some of it is pretty good and I like the composition of it. Others are not so good, and are borderline ridiculous or just plain boring and unimaginative...

So I just want to know if there are some album covers that you think look really good, or think look not so good.

For me, one that I really like would be this:



I like how artsy and imaginative it looks. It seems like someone really took the time to sit and think up a nice cover to put in front of the album. Yeah, it has a monotone color scheme in the general design, but I think it looks calming and nice. Also, the waves turning into the horses reminds me of that scene in the first Lord of the Rings movie.

One that I don't like so well would be something like this:



I have nothing against Howie Day, but that cover needs improvement... Granted, it's just the cover for his single "She Says" and maybe not a lot of thought gets put into the design for a single, but still it's just him drinking out of a cup and just looking bored. Also, there's not a lot of colors going on, which may just be the idea of having a muted color scheme, but I'm a fan of color, and this just doesn't do anything for me...

So does anyone else have any they would like to talk about and show?

I really like that Keane cover, especially how some of the waves/ horses look angrier or sadder. Kind of gives me the impression that the ocean can be both really peaceful and dangerous at the same time. As for the band, I don't even remember the one song of theirs that I've heard.



This is one of my favorite album covers of all time. To me, it's just representative of more or less everything. You can look at anything and see it for what it's outside appearance is, and then on the other hand, everything is so much more in depth and complicated than we could think it to be.
