    Poetry to Remember

You have probably noticed that my signature has gone from cheery to depressing. Recently I've read old messages about two people who've passed away over the last couple of years. Whether it's unhealthy or not, it's my problem and I'll deal with it.

However, those two wrote really good poetry and they've been gone for so long. Their poetry has only been recorded in my website, and I just can't let their works die a silent death in a forum where no one else will see them. I know these poems are not part of my work (as I have rarely written poetry), but I think it's a good idea that these poems continue to live somewhere else. Like finding a new home for them.

I didn't post this to make you all sad, since the last thing I want is pity from all of you, but I did it so everyone would know the talent these two had. So here we go, I'll post a poem from each of them in every post. I'll only give you the username of one, which is Umi. The other one, who also became my girlfriend but met her demise in mid-2008, will only be known as the "Melody Weaver".

In this post, I'll post the last poems they've put their hearts and souls into. This first one is from the Melody Weaver, who sent someone else to post it in my website should she pass away (which eventually happened).

    Sweet Dreamers

We shut our eyes every night
    Ready for dreams of tomorrow
    Brighter days and happier times
    The most pleasant nighttime adventures

Never before had I shut my eyes
    With fear of not awakening
But tonight I lie, the fear quite clear
Yet somehow my mind shows the light

    We were sweet dreamers
Ready to escape reality for just a few hours
Laying our heads down for rest
Being greeted with the smiling faces
    Of dreamy companions

    Fighting great beasts of evil
Saving the day in one great bout
    Or just having dreams
    Of a day without burden
Sweet Dreamers we would always remain

And now one such as I
    Lay for one final rest
Knowing now that waking wasn't an option
Yet with a smile on my face
I slipped away, to worlds only we would know
    Us, the sweet dreamers

    -----

This next one is from Umi, her last poem. Even though the theme was about letting go, the irony is that, a year later, she too passed away due to the grief of the death of the Melody Weaver, her best friend.

    To Let Go

    I woke up today
    Feeling like yesterday
But tomorrow was screaming at me to let go
    Though yesterday was sweet
    And tomorrow so frightening
Today is what makes you alive
So this is my attempt to let go
To live in the moment I'll wave yesterday goodbye
    And smile for tomorrow
But damn today is suddenly beautiful

    -----

I want this topic to live. Comments are greatly appreciated.

    Re: Poetry to Remember

I'm going to post a poem from each of them lately. They wrote a lot, but Umi didn't write as much as the Melody Weaver. So you'll probably see more of the Melody Weaver, but Umi's work will still be shown.

This one's from the Melody Weaver, written on the same day she admitted how much she loved me. No title.

    To care is a gift
    To love is a blessing
    Once you know
    And once you do
    It's hard to forget
    I care for you
    More than I do
    Anyone else
    I give you something
As I give you my words
    Something you might want
    Or something you might not
But I do truely care for you

    -----

And this one's from Umi. No title on this one either, since this was her first poem on my website.

For how many dreams have I slumbered?
    How many tomorrows have passed?
The days when victory meant everything...
    Have come to an end
    Yesterdays friends
    Become tomorrows foes...
    So flow the days
    filled with betrayal and enmity
    Once one reaches the summit,
all that remains is ones inevitable downfall...
    All has become lost
    The inumerable wounds
    Once decorations of glory
    have instead begun to ache...
    Have I yet awoken?
    Where might I finally be?

    -----

Once again, comments are greatly appreciated.

    Re: Poetry to Remember

Today's poems. This first one is from Umi.

    Tears of a rose

    Soft gentle drops
    On the petal tips
    Dripping down so slowly
    With subtle little drips
    Such are the tears
    Of a rose

    After a cold
    Blanket of rain
    After a long
    Moment of pain
    Such are the tears
    Of a rose

    -----

And this next one's from the Melody Weaver. Yet another of her many poems.

    Colors

    Like crayons in a box
    We're all so different
    Some purples
    Some greens
    Some crazy extreme
Not a one in the box
    Is the same thing
    We're all only crayons
    Non-toxic
Please read the poetry from two great friends of mine. May they find peace.

    Re: Poetry to Remember

This next poem was from the Melody Weaver, who made it just for her friend Umi.

    The Unnoticed Beauty

    The lighting played part
    But certainly not much
    For the beauty displayed
    Was certainly her own

    Those cerulian eyes
    Soft porcelian skin
    Amazing velvet hair
    Pale and Beautiful

She was one of amazing grace
    The way she moved...
    Simply amazing

    But tore herself down
    With acts of pain
    She held the blades close
    And watched the blood
    Such distain

    The beauty unnoticed
    He vowed to protect
    With light in his eyes
    He balled up his fists

Never again did the beauty hurt
Never again did she dance with blades
    Never again was she alone

    -----

The Melody Weaver wrote more poems than Umi, so I won't feature the latter's as much.

    Re: Poetry to Remember

Here's more from the Melody Weaver. After writing it, she admitted this is one of her better poem.

    The Girl

Something about her makes me uneasy…
Maybe it’s a slight fear or dislike,
But in searching for words to describe it
I manage to find none that work…

    As time passes I’ve noticed
No one says a word to her,
    Knows her name,
Or even seems to see her there.

    I swear she’s just in my mind…
    A figment of my imagination…
    My guilty mind,
    Perhaps,
Making up someone I once knew.

I see her when I turn away
Out of the corner of my eye…

    She sits in the shadows
    And watches silently…

    Don’t you see her?
    She’s…
The girl of my guilty mind
    The girl I once was
    The girl I left behind

    -----

This one was made by Umi, who claimed more than once to have looked very similar to the Melody Weaver. This was written months after the latter passed away.

    Our Reflection

As I look in the mirror
    I remember the glances
    The smiles, the laughter
All of the lovely things we share

The day when I was mistook for you
Broke my heart all over again
Because I knew you weren't there
    To laugh and say
'How silly, my face is different than yours'

    The similarities kill me

    My face and yours

    We were like sisters

    But since you're gone
Does that make this our reflection?

    Re: Poetry to Remember

    One from the Melody Weaver...

    To The Dreamer

    Bring me those broken ones
    The fearful and frightening ones
And somehow I will work through
    And salvage the happiness
    Through tears and screams
    You'll wake in a fright
But that's the time of night
    You need just call me
And I will mend those broken nightmares
    Into pleasant dreams
Let me help you sleep peacefully
Even if it means losing the sleep I need

    -----

And this one is from Umi, dedicated to her best friend.

    The Melody Weaver

    Delicate was the work
But done, it had to be
    Working with tunes
    And words to make melodies

    Leaving a mark
    Wherever she went
    And showing true art
    To those ignorant

    Brilliant and beautiful
    In all her ways
    Through the melody weaver
    We find peace

    Her song lives on
Please read the poetry from two great friends of mine. May they find peace.

    Re: Poetry to Remember

Just one from the Melody Weaver, but this one's long. Hope you enjoy it.

    Time

    It was a silly time
    Laughing at nothing
    But laughing at everything
    All at the same time

I wrapped my arms around you
And we both gasped for breath
Laughing so hard made it difficult
To get the air we needed

    But somehow we didn't mind

    It was a sad time
    Watching all the pain
    From each other's eyes
Knowing we can't help this time

I wrapped my arms around you
    So we could cry together
Crying so much made it difficult
    To see everything around us

    But somehow we didn't mind

    It was a loving time
    Feeling our connection
Stronger than we had ever before
    And staying side by side

I wrapped my arms around you
    And in silence we felt
All of the emotions made it difficult
    To find words that fit
Please read the poetry from two great friends of mine. May they find peace.

    Re: Poetry to Remember

I try to make this an everyday thing, but sometimes that proves to be difficult.

So anyway, I'll here's another one from the Melody Weaver. She was bullied sometimes, and all of the time I was in a helpless position. I could never stop the bullying from happening.

    Crushed

    Hated for loving
    Hurt for caring
    And yelled at for being

    I cannot take another scream
    Not another harsh word
Not another glare from across the room

I just ask that you leave me be
And let me live as me

    I will always love
    I will always care
    I will always be
    So why not let me?
    -----

For the moment, I can't find a Umi poem. Maybe I already posted all of them? Maybe I didn't look hard enough...

    Re: Poetry to Remember

I haven't posted much here, but here's some more poems. This first one from Umi.

    Hide and go seek

    The sun's a playful figure
    And the sky a playground
    The clouds a hiding places
And the moon is always looking

    Wind moves things along
    As the game progresses
But the moon's always too far behind

I don't think this game will ever end
    -----

And this one from the Melody Weaver.

    Too Much

    Overwhelmed by feeling
    Circuits fried and overloaded
    Too many feelings
    Too much pain
    Too much fear
    Too much hurt

    I just want to scream
    So everyone will know
    Just want to scream
    To let it all out

    But my voice is small
And my lungs wish not to grasp the air
So silently I suffer this overload

    The feelings burst
And on tear soaked pillows I lay
    Waiting for someone to come
    And wipe the tears away
Please read the poetry from two great friends of mine. May they find peace.

Well ... I'm not sure if you wanted commentary in this thread, but I do not see an alternate one for it ... I must say that these are beautiful poems. You can feel the emotion in them so easily, and picture the scene they painted as if you're there. It was very sweet of you to repost their works, though, Leon. No one is truly gone until they're forgotten. *Smiles.*

    Re: Poetry to Remember

I just read the poems, and I am very moved by them. They were so...so, deep (for lack of a better word). I could actually feel what the poet was feeling. I read a lot of poetry, being published myself, and I can't say that every poet makes me join in their sorrow. You can tell from the work that both poets were close. I expect you were close with them as well, since you are bringing their feeling so the rest of the world can enjoy the art that they made. I was wondering, do you have any of their "happier" works. Poems of pain and sadness are great to invoke emotions from the reader, but by bringing another side and feeling, you show a completely different side. I would very much like to read more from them, if you can.

    Re: Poetry to Remember

Yes, I was close. They were great friends, and the Melody Weaver and I were already making plans for the future.

Btw, here's one that I found, but most of them have the same theme. Thinking about it now, I can only imagine how sad she must have felt on the inside.

    Peace

    It looked so nice
    The melting snow
    The birds coming out
Sounds of wind were all that disturbed

    Peace at last

    Re: Poetry to Remember

Well Leon, I think they're brilliant. I do a lot of poetry and lyrics myself, and read lots of other peoples' every day, but these are all very moving, and talk to me in a way not many poems do. These were two very talented people.

    I particularly liked:

It really brings out the idea of the fragile state of life, and that once you have reached your prime, the only way is down. Beautiful wording also.

I'm sorry to hear that they have passed on, may they rest in peace and be poets on the other side

That means a lot. I haven't posted lately since this is all I could find. I did them in a random order so even if there were more they'd be hard to find. .-.

    Re: Poetry to Remember

Found another by the Melody Weaver. This one of the first she posted.

    Mistakes

    Yeah I've screwed up bad
Lied like it was my life
    And tried to get through
    Even though I missed you
    But don't forget
I love you like my friend
    And don't forget
    No matter what
I'll be there for you in the end
    Because I love you
    My friend

    Yes those mistakes
    They were quite rough
    I've lied before
    But not like this
    Because I cannot do this
Cannot dismiss the feelings of woe
    The feeling I've wronged
    Beyond repair
But now I give to you
The promise that I'll do better
    Do it better for you

Because I love you my friend
I hope you love me through my mistakes

Thank you for this, it was wonderful. This one actually struck a personal chord with me so I am a little teary-eyed. I believe it is right up there with the ones you have already posted.

Since I really can't express how much I am touched by this I will just say thank you again.

NP. I don't know why I didn't post this one. It was the first on the thread she started at my forum.
Please read the poetry from two great friends of mine. May they find peace.

Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.

Those poems are amazing! I actually feel sad after reading them knowing that the authors of such pure and beautiful works of poetry are no longer with us. The world has lost two amazing writers and people
