I recruited Quina awhile back, and I already have Steiner, Garnet, Vivi and Zidane (obviously), but I realize there are two other characters in the game that able to be recruited. Quina, had I not gone into his/her swamp, I think I would have missed altogether.
My question is will I miss any other characters if I don't do a side mission somewhere or do they show up in the main story automatically? I absolutely hate it when I miss someone in an RPG so it's imperative I get them all (if that's possible).
You missounted, there are 3 that you have yet to obtain. You should be able to obtain all three of the other characters during normal game play if I remember correctly. Amarant doesn't play as big of a role in the game but you still cross his path. Eiko is a large part of the story and you have to obtain her. Freya joins during normal story line play also.

You would have obtained Quina eventually anyway when you try to get to the other continent. There's no hidden characters in this one
