How do you learn magic in Final Fantasy V?

I'm playing FFV: Advance (an emulator on my computer), and the white and black mages are learning abilities (White Magic LV1, White Magic LV2, etc.). They aren't learned spells, though. Is there something I'm missing? Do you have to purchase spells or something? (I'm in the Ghost ship part of the game)

Thanks so much for your help!

Yes, you purchase most of the spells, but you can't use them until the appropreate Job is at a decent level. There are a few you have to do a little side quest for to get, later in the game, these are for the ultimate magics though.

If you need help with finding their locations, you can look here:

I'm thinking about creating a hybrid. A dolphin-monkey. Half dolphin, half monkey. Do you think it's possible?
I was thinking that since I'm artificially creating it, I'll create it with rocket fuel instead of blood, and thus it will be able to fly, using the dolphin's dorsal fins as wings. And from the air, it will look down upon us all and protect us against sharks, and search for bananas.
