They suck because they're old. I hate old stuff, except for Black Sabbath.

    Rofl. Daddy and I were just having this arguement. I grew up listening to the stuff, so why should I have to like it now? I don't. I'm not being closed minded if I've listened to old shit, and made my decision to not like it. I don't know why you'd use my image against me. I'm no scenester ;_;

I'm not saying you have to like it, I'm just saying your reason was stupid as hell.

You can honestly just say "I don't like it because I prefer other music" or "I don't like it because it is not my style of music" but to dislike something because it is "old" is quite stupid.

I was raised on Metallica and Ozzy, and I don't like them much now. Not because they are old, but because I've moved on.

So I voted for Rage, but they aren't my favorite band. Far from.

I usually listen to Symphonic Black Metal, Death Metal, Orchestra Metal, Thrash Metal and Industrial Metal.

Some of my favorite bands are
Old Man's Child, Embraced, Haggard, Mayhem, Burzum, Ragnarok, Emperor, Dark Throne and and Dimmu Borgir.

    Metal IST KRIEG!!!

Im questioning how ANYONE can believe rise against is a hardcore band, I've been listening to them for a few years now and they definately are NOT hardcore. Hardcore is more along the lines of hatebreed and throwdown.

Oh, and fall out boy is mindless pop music that takes absolutely no skill whatsoever to create.

Wow, i took a closer look and realized how wrong this pole truly is.

There is not ONE true hard core band on there.
Fear Before the march of flames - emo/fagcore
rise against - more of a punk rock feel
    mushroomhead - straight nu metal
Between the buried and me - Post grind
    underoath - screamo
    fall out boy - pop
    All that remains - metalcore
from first to last - screamo
    flaw -more nu metal
    box car racer - pop

ive also seen about half the bands on this list.

sorry but fall out boy is emo..... and now we get into the emo word!! i am an origianl goth.... i dont even dress goth ne more because it has become trendy! and that anoys the shit out of me. i still make my own clothing though when i go to concerts! emo was never a good thing! emo used to be a way to describe the babby whinny kiddy boy bands like n sync and back street boys.... so please do not insult good bands ne more by calling them emo!!!!

if you want hard core start naming bands like slayer, kiss, black sabboth, tool, nin, otep, sound garden..... all these are more hard core than the ones listed above!
sorry if you are offended by it. but you gotta respect the originals not the ones that just started doing to sound like their influences.... then they are just a copy and not a good one at that!

if you want to know metal music.... dont go to hot topic!!! dont go to sam goodies!!!! they just have what is popular!!! listen to friends and find the good shit!

Kiss, slayer, and soundgarden? can you say, can you say, classic rock, thrash, and grunge? otep and tool are nu metal. nin is a VERY mainstream industrial band. none of those bands are hardcore either. and emo was NOT originally used to describe bands like n'sync, it was originally an offshoot of punk that happened in the mid 80's.

If you think you're original goth, and you listen to those bands, i'm sorry but you are WRONG. originally, goth music was types of music like coldwave, darkwave, industrial, things like that, examples of "true" goth band would be vnv nation, apoptygma berzerk, Velvet Acid Christ and the like. original goth people also wore exremely tight clothing, not this bondage pants crap we get from hottopic.

I've been reading through here and too many of you are TOTAL music n00bs. I'm just gunna pick on Jet for a second though. I think you meant to say MasTadon, which is way metal, not hardcore. And I believe you meant to say Aiden and Emery, they are emo/screamo and wanna be softcore. I've noticed Sephoroth is about the noobiest music newb here, so let me set ya straight:
-Just because a band screams, doesn't make them hardcore.
-Fall Out Boy IS pop, they sold out, just like Panic! at the Disco.
-All those bands are pretty mainstream to the rock music world now-a-days.
-Most of them are on Fuse or have been in Revolver, etc.
-You have no idea what you're talking about man, sorry to be cruel, but it's the truth brah.

If you wanna listen to REAL hardcore, go listen to some:
    -If Hope Dies
    -Remembering Never
    -Unearth
    -Zao
    -Skindred
    -Bury your Dead
    -It Dies Today(kind of)
-Let It Die(kind of metal hXc)
    -Devil Driver
    -Shai Hulud(has some hXc qualities)
    -Within Chaos
    -Still Remains
    -Thrice(kinda)
    -Time In Malta
    -Walls Of Jericho

...I like where this thread is going. "This isn't labeled as hardcore! You don't know a thing about music! My musical knowledge is far superior to yours! Nyah!"

In all honesty, I have a very limited understanding of the "hardcore" scene, the Nu Metal Scene, the Death Metal Scene, etc. Probably because I rarely listen to those types of music. Wasn't Helmet a "hardcore" band? Or were they something else? Maybe grunge? *shrug* Bought their "best of" album, didn't particularly care for it. There was a band called "Blenderhead," though, whose first album I'm pretty sure was hardcore. Liked that. Though I don't even know what qualifies a band as being of a certain genre, so I won't even try.

In general, I know a little more about the ska scene, or the "punk rock" scene (maybe closer to "pop-punk," as per real punk rock is dead, didn't you hear?! ) I wish I hadn't made my initial post in this thread, as I would've just ignored the rest if this at this point. But I did make that post, so I feel I have come in and tell everyone this:

Anyway... yes, I've heard of Rammstein. They are okay.

Well, the name of the thread is "are you hardcore" and to me at least, that seems to imply the thread should have something to do with, well, hardcore. And by the way, there are 2 bands on your list i have not heard. Several of those bands in fact, i have seen live. Nu Metal is in fact a musical genre, it encompasses many of the more mainstream bands from a few years ago. A few bands you may have heard from this genre are mudvayne, Flaw, Mushroomhead, Slipknot, and the like. I am also not a goth, just because i happen to know about the original gothic culture doesnt mean i have to be one, you are just making uninformed assumptions. Please don't try to argue with me about music, especially metal and hardcore. I own more cds than you can imagine, i have been to more concerts than you ever will, and i have read more books about music than you know. You should seriously give up right now.

    RISE AGAINST... YEEAAAAAHHHH!

underOATH and From First To Last were good on that list too.

Bullet For My Valentine is a good metal band I've recently been introduced to. Look em up if you're into that sort of thing.

And you really ought to be into that sort of thing.

Oh and Nu Metal is real. And it's really gay. From what I understand it's used to describe bands like Slipknot and the misguided youths that listen to them.

    I'd never touch the stuff.

Uh dude, Slipknot isn't nu-metal. It actually didn't have a label for quite some time until it was finally decided as "alternative metal". And yes I am a Slipknot fan, I showed my appreciation of it before. Sure not every member is talented, I personally dislike the clown and the gas mask guys, but if you actually look past the propaganda the MUSIC COMPANIES distrubed (Not Slipknot) you'd actually notice they WEREN'T made to scare 12 year old girls, they WEREN'T forced to say or do things of their label, and they definitely are NOT sellouts.

One proven point of this is during Iowa's Album there was a song called "The Heretic Anthem", it's main verse was "If you're 555 I'm 666", which the whole song translated as into being a "**** off you commericial assholes" of their Road Runner labels. See, Road Runner wanted them to make their music "Radio friendly", so they made this song in response. Now, recently as we ALL know they've kind softened down their music a bit, but this did not let up their own attacks against the label. Their song "Welcome" had another verse in which it attacked the label itself.

    Everything but couldn't have it!
I have tons of more information for you too. Like for one, the mask weren't made out of simple gimmick, in fact BEFORE they ever got big the mask was already apart of the band. See, some people don't really understand that there are some big bands that aren't sellouts, the music industry may use them as a greed source, but they need them more than the bands need the record labels. I'm really sick of seeing all these people judge certain bands because it's "popular", get a ****ing biography about a band before saying they suck or not. Some times making money ISN'T a crime, jesus.

Dude, Slipknot is VERY nu metal, and alternative metal DOES NOT sound like slipknot. Alternative metal is more along the lines of the heavier primus and nuclear rabbit songs. Al. metal is really weird sounding music. And nu metal has been around for quite a while, i think since primer 55 and rage against the machine.

I hate Slipknot, but I agree that Slipknot isn't nu metal. Becuase I havent heard of Nu Metal. Slipknot is Alternitive Metal/Rapcore. I hate slipknot becuase they are demonic fools. The song "Heretic Anthem" is about the devil dude. Its not about them and radio friendly music. "If your 555 then im 666" means "If your god, then im the devil". 555means God, and 666 mean Devil. It has nothing to deal with there record company, or radio friendly music.

Oh my god. Slipknot are so fucking Satanic that it hurts. Don't listen to them or it will make your mind corrupt. Hah, fuck that.

As tolerant as I am of the Christian religion and its followers, idiots like you make it impossible to respect it in its entirety. That and it's whole "pray and it will be okay" mentality, but that is for another discussion.

It is fucking music made to be sold to the mainstream community, and for teenagers to seem rebelious ... it is not symbolic of Satan or ANYTHING similar to it. It is for all that is worthy in this world's sake, a marketing PLOY.

No, they are not Satanic. They are a fucking marketing ploy.

And so what if I made fun of the religion, I respect individual Christians, but I think the religion is bullshit. Sitting on your knees praying when you could just be out there doing shit to solve your problems is stupid.

Let us not get off topic any more.

No, Im gonna fight for my religion. We don't sit on our knees and pray. You can't really say it's bullshit, until you know the religion, and by saying "THEY SIT ON THEIR KNEES AND PRAY" shows you don't know the relgion, becuase they don't.
