Velvet Revolver or Stone Temple Pilots

This topic is really just to compare the two bands that Scott Weiland fronted.I just recently got Velvet Revolvers two albums and was not all that impressed. While I did enjoy the albums it just didnt sound like what you think Scott Weiland and 3 members of Guns N Roses would sound like.I love Stone Temple though and am very happy that they are back together.I love every album and the grunge feel that they maintained in every song.So all in all I would say that Stone Temple gave me more pleasure.

I beleive there was a topic on this one a while back but to restate what I said in a nut shell...

Scott should of never left STP, they own all if he can stay off of drugs. VR should look for a new original front and move on. I was not pleased with became of VR. Specially with the tallent they had as a driving force.

I like Libertad a fair bit, but nothing I've heard thus far of Velvet Revolver has been as good as what I've heard from Stone Temple Pilots. Core tends to be one of the first albums I rerip when I get a new PC along with some of the other classic albums of the period.

I liked Contraband a lot more than Libertad, but saying that, STP>VR anyday.

STP was great, and in my opinion VR weren't all that great. They didn't live up to the rep that they had in my opinion. they had a couple good songs, but it was nothing compare to Scott in STP, and Slash in GNR. Compared to their previous bands they weren't shit...

I enjoyed VR, Contraband much more so than Libertad. However, I still think that STP is much better than what VR had amounted to.

I think the major difference between VR and STP, was that when VR first came out, nobody really entirely knew what to expect, and then at the same time, you kind of did. When you look at Weiland and Slash's pasts, you can see the ridiculous amount of talent, so long as they both kept clean. That's what I really liked about VR, since I kinda felt that VR was a crew who despite their checkered pasts, were doing the best they could.

With STP, a lot of times, it felt like Weiland was writing poetry and putting it to music. The lyrics could have been about really specific things or abstract ideas, and that's what I really loved.
