As far as I'm concerned, this is God's greatest invention and gift to mankind.

Chances are the lot of you have never heard of black metal, let alone actually listened to it. You'd probably hate it, then I'd laugh at you and tell you to do the world a favor and off yourself.

On the other hand, if you're curious to try new things, here would be some good starter bands, considered icons of the genre:

Let me tell you something about this wonderful genre of music. It's pure blasphemous music for us blasphemers. If you are opposed to various authoritarian structures, such as organized religion, capitalism, government, etc., then this might be the shit for you. Many in the inner circle were practitioners of heathen national socialism and have burned many churches to the ground and one of them (Varg Vikernes of Burzum/Mayhem) committed murder to one of his fellow band mates (Euronymous). Some of them have committed suicide (Dead of Mayhem) because they were truly brutal bastards who knew first hand what a world of shit we live in and knew there was no hope for any of us.

To keep it simple, no matter your faith, we are all going to burn in hell, and Black Metal is the medium used to give us a preview of our fate.

Holy shit what the hell did I get myself into by reading this thread. I assumed this would be about the awesome Black Metal bands from Norway, which it is but damn. You have put a damper on my day for sure.

Anyway MayHem is the shit right there. Sacrifice of farm animals right there on stage what more could you ask for. If you're one of the lucky few(like Perr Kristan Haggen) something might just bonk you on the head, and earn you a free ticket to a future concert. Only if you are lucky though. Anyway Black Metal is awesome, and MayHem rulez!!!!!

Garath Sodom, this thread has made my day. I LOVE BLACK METAL. Burzum is my favourite at the moment. I'm going to buy his Anthology CD in town when I get some more money. Satyricon are also epic as hell.
