Piano Music

Lately, I've been attempting to learn new piano songs, ranging from anime, video game, bands, classical, and music that is just made by a random individual. ^.^

My question is this: Do any of you play the piano? And if so, what are your favorite pieces?

Yes, I teach myself

and Eternity Memory Of Lightwaves is what I'm learning now. I started with Interrupted By Fireworks and Cid's Theme. I use Synthesia to help me.

The only thing I really play is game music. I want to try Green Hill Zone from Sonic, but it's kind of hard because it's faster.

As for favorite pieces, that's definitely a toughie. Most of the stuff I play on piano is usually either video game or classical pieces. Final Fantasy music is obviously a lot of fun to play on piano, but I may be biased because those songs usually invoke nostalgia/emotion for myself; still, I suppose that's partly the point, and not a bad thing by any means! The ones I enjoy playing most would probably be the infamous Prelude (it sounds so pretty with the pedal incorporated), Aeris' Theme (VII), The Place I'll Return To Someday (IX), Eternal Harvest (IX) (Still haven't mastered this one), and Suteki Da Ne (X).

Funny that this thread should pop up since I just dusted off my keyboard yesterday and started playing again. After hearing the piano version of "Shanghai Teahouse ~ Chinese Tea" from Touhou, I had to play it.

As for classical, my favorite composer in general has always been Tchaikovsky, so my favorite classical pieces to play are by him. Swan Lake and Waltz of the Flowers. Though if you have a keyboard, Toccata and Fugue in D Minor (Bach) is especially fun to play in the organ tone.

@Gypsy Elder: Green Hill Zone's a fun one to play! But the left hand can get pretty tricky to incorporate, I've found.

I can play piano with my right hand, but I don't know how to play it with my left, and I cannot use both at the same time.... I get mixed up too easy, but I guess that's why you practice.

I taught myself how to play, even though it's not very much. I can play "Fur Elise", but only the melody part, and simple melodies like "Mary Had A Little Lamb", and "I Dropped My Dolly in the Dirt". Oh, and one time, I learned to play "A Place to Call Home" from FFIX and "Zelda's Theme". I don't know if I could still do it or not. I play by ear too, since I don't know how to read music.

That's where I screw up

that song makes me all uncoordinated, but Eternity Memory is way longer but I play that Just fine, working on memorizing the longest bass part, then I'm good.

I don't play piano, but I have the utmost respect for anyone that can play Moonlight Sonata well. Everyone has that song that makes them stop whatever they're doing, close their eyes and just be moved by the music. That one's mine.

That's the only other classical type song that I like, I used my Synthesia to get the keys for it, and it's not that bad. Also I forgot about Fur Elise, that's fun to play.

I play piano. I started by the age of 6 and I stopped by 8. I started playing again by the age of 13. Then I stopped again by 14. >_>;;
It was all because I moved to another city.. Then I moved again in the first city, then I... Stopped because I started to play violin. Sorry if that sounds confusing hahah

About what I like to play... I have to say that I like to play BGM or anime soundtracks. Especially Joe Hisaishi's

My favorite is 'Summer'.

I rarely practice because the college keeps me busy. I kinda take my time to master a song.

Well.. I have no skill to play piano, a bit actually, but I love piano very much. My friend who's expert sometimes teaches me how to play it. I recommend you Tifa's Theme and Marriage D'Amor. They are nice

Moonlight Sonata and Fur Elise are actually the reasons why I wanted to learn piano. Five years of learning, so I could play them perfectly.

As to the thread, joking around I bought a Pokemon Piano music book and learned quite a few of the songs...ages ago. That and I learned a few key FF songs, Kefka's theme song, for instance.

I literally have not touched a piano in three years. I know for a fact I can still read music and play, but the simple truth is pianos are not cheap and even if you have a keyboard, no one wants to hear you practice.

I've played for about...Around 8 years. Took a begging class in High School and instead of learning how to play music, I was writing it with the Teacher. I'm currently working on a new piece and have been up early hours in the morning just to work on it...I only do Guitar lessons at work right now but I'm really trying to get up into piano lessons...
