    Concerts

Has anyone been to a concert or music festival that'll always be remembered as a memorable event?
I love going to concerts because not only can i get close to my music heroes but i get to see said heroes play live.

To date i've been to Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, the Chilies and U2. Metallica and AC/DC were especially memorable because they're the two bands i've been wanting to see for as long as i can remember, plus they were as loud as hell
    Currently Playing:
    Pillars of Eternity (PC)

I play Magic! See what decks im playing or building here!

    Re: Concerts

The biggest gig I have ever been to is Iron Maiden in Twickenham on July 5th 2008, as part of their 'Somewhere Back In Time' World Tour. It was huge because it was their only UK date for that entire year. The whole thing was absolutely mind-blowing. They played all the classics from their 80s albums (their best IMO). It was the greatest musical experience of my life.

Two personal ones were getting to see The Misfits and Dir En Grey, which are my two favourite bands ever. Misfits was at Norwich Waterfront, which is a pretty tiny place in comparison to a lot of places, and The Misfits filled the place to the point of overflow. I also got to meet Jerry Only after the gig, which was awesome! Dir En Grey was at the Norwich UEA, which was bigger, but the place was also jam packed (even though most people were there to see Bring Me The Horizon). I never thought I would see Dir En Grey that close to where I live, and it was amazing to see them. They sounded just like they do on the recordings. I also got to meet and take photos with Die (the guitarist), so that just topped off an amazing night.

I've been to see so many bands, but those three gig stand out in my mind, and I will never forget them.

*EDIT Here is a list of all the bands I have seen live (Not including most of the support bands):
    In Flames
    Motorhead (3 Times)
    Bullet For My Valentine
    Clutch (Twice)
    Soil
    Enter Shikari
    Trivium (Twice)
    The Misfits
    Avenged Sevenfold (Twice)
    Coheed And Cambria
    Megadeth
    Sum 41
    Within Temptation
    Iron Maiden
    The Adicts
    Stiff Little Fingers
    Dragonforce
    Bring Me The Horizon (Twice)
    A Day To Remember
    Dir En Grey
    Buzzcocks
    Cannibal Corpse (Twice)
    Children Of Bodom
    CKY
    Kylesa
    HIM
    A
    Bowling For Soup

    Re: Concerts

    Let's see.

I've been to numerous music festivals and the like, so many of the following artists, when I say I've seen them, I've listened to them in a live venue, but I haven't seen their "show", or their "show" has been abridged. Too bad so many acts only find it worthwhile to come to NZ for festivals

    Anyway, I've seen:

-Queens of the Stone Age (and for a second time in five days!)
    -Smashing Pumpkins
    -Rage Against the Machine
    -Tool
    -Deerhunter
    -Blonde Redhead
    -Them Crooked Vultures
    -Kasabian
    -Deftones
    -Muse
    -The Mars Volta
    -Die Antwoord
    -Pixies
    -Iggy and the Stooges
    -John Butler Trio
    -Primal Scream
    -Grinderman
    -Björk
    -Arcade Fire
    -Peaches
    -Yeasayer
    -The Greenhornes

    + a whole bunch of local bands/friend's bands/opening bands/tribute bands.

There are probably some I'm forgetting.

Bands I really want to see:

    -Radiohead
    -The Flaming Lips
    -The Cure

Seriously, just one of those three would complete my life.

    Re: Concerts

I don't have a lot of time or cash to see many shows, but when I do go to shows, normally they are festivals or bigger shows with a lot of bands (Or free ones!). So far I've seen.

    Better Than Ezra
    Buckethead
    That 1 Guy
    Breaking Benjamin
    Staind
    Three Days Grace
    Hinder
    Black Stone Cherry
    Puddle Of Mudd
    Finger Eleven
Nickelback (My mom and sister wanted to see that one)

This summer I'll be going to Mayhem Fest and will be adding
    Unearth
    Trivium
    Megadeth
    Godsmack (!!!!!!OMGOMGOMG!!!!!!)
    Disturbed
    In Flames
    And a couple of others.

I've also been to a couple of local shows for area bands. Some of them are alright, but most of them aren't very good.

    Re: Concerts

I played in a few when I was younger. Small-medium vanues, never opened for anyone big. I'd usually just hung out at a near by place untill it was near our time to play, after the first few.
I really enjoyed playing, I just hate the rock concert setting.
So outside of the ones I played in, I've never gone to a concert.

    Re: Concerts

Hmmm, I've seen lots of bands in my day, well mostly the big names.

    In no particular order:
    Foo Fighters
    Incubus
    Green Day
    Velvet Revolver
    Alice In Chains
    Iron Maiden x3
    In Flames
    Black Sabbath
    Mastodon
    Killswitch Engage
    Black Label Society
    CKY
    Whitesnake
    Judas Priest
    Stone Temple Pilots
    Dashboard Confessional*
    Brand New*

I feel like I've seen more, but I just can't remember at the moment.

    *Took my then-gf

My life would be complete if I could see:
    AC/DC
    Skynyrd
    Clutch
    Metallica
    Drive-By Truckers

My favorite show was probably Maiden in 08, where they did the Somewhere Back in Time tour at MSG. They blew a fuse and the sound went out for 15 minutes, so they kicked a soccer ball around, told jokes and mocked Sharon Osbourne, and then came back louder than ever.

My second favorite would have to be Velvet Revolver, at Montage Mountain in PA, since they were just bringing it that night, plus they closed with some GnR and did Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here," which was epic.

    Re: Concerts

I haven't attended too many concerts, tbh. I'd like to, but just never seemed to have really gotten around to going to a lot of 'em.

I have seen Toby Keith in concert when he played a show here in town before. This was back when I was in high school, and the guy I was dating at the time took me. Even though I wasn't a fan of Toby Keith, it was still pretty fun.

A Blues Festival happens pretty much every year in the local area, and I've been twice, mostly because my friends were going and there was barbeque being served there too I can't remember who played, but the barbeque was delicious. Also, one year for Fourth of July, I went to a concert down by the riverfront to watch fireworks and listen to the music from a live band. Again, I don't know who played...

As for concerts I'd like to see... Honestly, I'd really like to see one of those Distant Worlds concerts someday. I think it'd be cool to hear some of my favorite FF music played live with an orchestra.
