Yeah, the marks and customization was a good selling point. I like FFXII too, and the towns were really nice, but they really shouldn't be grounds for ZOMG THIS GAME IS AWSUM. xD;
Maybe not, but I still think that the detail that is put in the game is pretty amazing. I don't really consider myself a "graphics whore" because in all honesty it really doesn't matter that much, but I suppose you should call it as you see it. I suppose most "graphic whores" wouldn't think that of themselves, huh? I would love XII even without the graphics because really what sold me on it was hunting marks and how you could customize your characters. I touched a bit on the characters part in the post though. Well I see your point about my paragraph, so I'll edit it out.

You don't believe graphics make a great game, yet you went on about them anyway. The graphics shouldn't be counted toward your love for the game, IMO. You pretty much said the same exact stuff that graphics whores would say. This is just me, but I don't think your graphics paragraph is really needed in your post. ^^;
