Final Fantasy III introduced the job system to the series. It is not as advanced as FFV's but it is still nice being able to create different party combinations. I would put FFIII's story a little bit above the original's, especially the DS version since they changed the Onion Knights to actual characters giving them some story. It has the pure fantasy feel that I got from FF as well. Give it a shot.
