I know. -_-. I hope I can get the game someday when I'm not too broke.
unfortunately, they dont give you aerial octaslash and godspeed at the same time in Prologus.
I tried that combo in Orphan's Cradle in Prologus, so the wall rush to the ground from Godspeed helped. If the opponent learned to block right away, though, it could be a problem. Might try Godspeed-Octaslash when I have time.
To chain to SC you actually have to be close, usually having to dc to get in range, which takes time. Octalsash however covers some lateral distance in its approaching swings, so you can combo with it nicely in D1. EVen though the enemy technically recovers before Octaslash hits, it gives them insufficient time to dodge, and blocking just doesn't work. So it's possible that still works even with the changes.
Last playthrough with Sephiroth, I was able to hit the enemy with Godspeed-Sudden Cruelty, but I don't know if that was skill or just luck. Octaslash definitely wouldn't work (unless the opponent is either pressured or just noobish) after Godspeed since it takes a moment to build up.
Yeah, it still closes in and slams the enemy down, but they reduced the recovery time from being hit by most of his moves, if you can recover fast enough, the Godspeed-Octaslash would become avoidable, and no longer by my definition a true chain.
I only have Prologus (too broke to buy the actual game atm) so I can't test the aerial Octaslash. It'll probably work, though. I think the teleporting part for Godspeed still works.
Transience is alright, but single strikes just don't do it for me. I like epic combo rape, which new Seph is totally incapable of. Do me a favor though, and test out Godspeed-Aerial Octaslash, I need to know if that still works lol. You've probably seen what I mean in my videos, I use that for HP damage alot.
Tested out the new Sephiroth, and to be honest Transience seems to be an alright skill to me. I've been able to make some combos in midair, and for some reason I've found Hell's Gate harder to avoid. Plus, Scintilla's block seems to last longer. Judging from your videos, I can see why you're not happy with the changes, but I can still see myself using Sephiroth every now and then, even though I've used him only as often as I would for Cecil and Onion Knight (surprisingly, I don't use them that much even though I'm pretty good with them).
Not even a matter of suprise really, once you're hit by any move of Jecht's, expect to take HP damage if you're playing against sombeody who knows what they're doing lol.
If it makes you feel better, he's the only one who's been able to defeat me three times during Story Mode.....at Standard difficulty. At least Jecht's combos are easier to master. It's a good thing to surprise the enemy with Jecht Beam after a few hits from Jecht Stream.
TBH, Sephiroth is the only one I've gotten perfects against thus far in Prologus. I suppose part of that comes form having been a Seph player, every one of his moves I have committed to memory, and I know all their visual and audio ques and exactly how to respond to them. But if it were d1 Seph, at least he'd probably be able to touch me...
I actually had a hard time against him in Prologus, and I noticed the range of some of his attacks. Sorry you had to deal with all these changes, I can imagine the rest of the Sephiroth fanbase writing letters to SE.
Sephiroth was ideal in Edge of Madness, it's just small enough to where you're pretty much ALWAYS in range of Godspeed, and close enough to be wall rushed with pretty much anything lol. If they've taken away godspeed-Octaslash, I'll oficially call Sephiroth unplayable. Balancing out is one thing, but all they did for Seph was take away any advantages. You've gotta have at least one decent brv-Hp chain, otherwise you're at a major disadvantage against most characters.
So in other words, Sephiroth has gone from God-tier to mere footsoldier. I think it'd be Feral Chaos that you fight, though so you can fight that guy anywhere. Personally, I'd use Exdeath against him in a huge battlefield like the Rift, and Gabranth in a cramped arena like Edge of Madness or the Prima Vista.
