  1. A bit of a cry for FF going mainstream (or rather, for going mainstream the wrong way) Yet, I don't speak of this because I want to be fine with the fanboys (it is the blatant and eventually mindless fanboyism that I rebuke), but because I feel that the proclamations of the fans are a bit overrated.

And even then, I act the same way sometimes. But that's because they're messing with a game to which I have a special feel, which only a few games actually have. Kinda of preaching morals in underwear, or the equivalent saying.

But hey, it's pretty solid nonetheless. It sparks some discussion.

(Excuses for the three VMs. Post was way too long...)
  2. I don't condemn FFVII as a bad game, but I do admit it isn't my favorite. Sure, I was enjoying it when I first played it, as any FF fan would, but afterwards I realized I loved FFVI more than VII or that most other FF games in the series (a reason why I get a bit picky when they critique FFVI's storyline) I don't blame Seph for being a non-villain: I do say he's not an effective villain, as he holds some sympathetic actions, but after all he's an antagonist, and he does his work properly (halting the progress and opposing the protagonist) Nor do I agree well about the story's depth (bizarre in this one as I am a fan of cyberpunk and this game holds a bit of cyberpunk along some magic). mostly because eventually Cloud's behavior and the blatant protagonism kill part of the story. But I won't admit it truly sucks (actually, I prefer VII more than I prefer IX, but for different reasons) And yeah, eventually I dislike the concept upon which FFVII has evolved.
  3. Well, just before I go forth and answer (maybe later, maybe right now, but when I feel for it), I'll give a piece of advice.

I'd just say hold true to what you believe. I understand you're a FFV fan (I like the concept of classes in the game, but class system was not as well represented until FF Tactics came), and I have for once to adopt the position outside of fandom. If what you wrote is what you feel, then perfect; but if what you wrote is to be good with most of the people around here who're sick of FFVII ultra-fanboys, I'd ask to dissent.

Don't take this badly; as of now, I can't tell if it's what you actually feel or not.
  4. Posted my thoughts on FFVII. Thought you might want to check it out...
