I'm not really a present kind of guy and the drinking is probably for next week.
Hey, it's your birthday!! =D I hope you enjoy your day and got some nice presents. <3 Don't forget to party all night
Oh, so you meant the.. live action movies. (If you can call them that XD") I haven't even watched one of them. I meant the animated movies. ^^ I've also read a few of the comics, but we don't have many of them. .-. There are even 4 movies of Taxi? Why haven't I ever heard about it...? Seems as if I have to watch some movies now. >3 Oho~ Finally it's raining. *_* *happy*
I didn't mean the comic books of Asterix, but the movies with real actors. They're lame. The comic books rock. Taxi 1, Taxi 2, Taxi 3 and Taxi 4 are about a guy driving a cab in Marseille, France. They're pretty good and well known movies and lots of people like them. There's action, humour etc. in them. Good entertainment.
Why do you think that Asterix is lame? oo I grew up with Asterix, so it's kind of.. nostalgic for me. ^^ I think it'll be quite fun to watch the movies again - especially in French. ^^ (Planning on doing it either today or tomorrow ^^) Unfortunately I haven't heard of Taxi before... What's it about?
Asterix is kind of lame, but if you're into that stuff... You might like Taxi. They're pretty popular around Europe, but I'm not sure about the US.
I think I'm gonna lose my interest in fantasy some time in the future, too. You are quite right, it's mostly the same. All the books spread the same atmosphere, but the stories are a bit different. But I feel the same way about most of them. Nevertheless I like to read them. It's always good to read a book when you have to sit in a train for an hour each day. ^^" Soo... J'ai cherché des films en francais et j'ai trouvé ~20. ^^ Je ne sais pas si les films est interéssat, mais je veux les regarder en le week-end. J'ai trouvé un peu films de France - les films d'Astérix. xD (I think I needed about 10 minutes just to write those few words... I really suck T..T" I understood your sentence perfectly, without much thinking about it, but writing on my own... that's hard. XD")
On peut aussi continuer cette conversation en français. Si tu veux...
I lost my interest in Fantasy when I was about 17 I think. It didn't do it for me anymore. And psychological changes in characters are a major factor in the quality of a story. Fantasy mostly lacks what I look for in a book. Plus, it's mostly the same anyway. And I meant actual French movies (like Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain) with English subtitles, not American movies dubbed with silly French voices.
I also had the idea of watching French movies with English subtitles, but I wasn't sure about that. I even found a channel on TV, but... ah, well, the movies weren't interesting enough. ^^" I think these were some dramas lacking much story. ^^" My parents got many DVDs but I don't know if there are any that have a French dubbed version... I remember searching for movies I could watch when I was still learning French and I hadn't found much. :/ Oooh~ I like you, no, I love you! T_T Finally someone who appreciates the same things in books as I do. I write novels, mostly fantasy. But I'm always eager to put something into my books that makes you think. Some change of the behavior of the protagonist for example. They always change and think and act differently at the end of the book. I'm not sure if anyone recognizes this, but I think it's quite important. But somehow most of the fantasy novels I read don't contain such elements. XD" Sometimes I even think that reading a book is a waste of time if it hasn't at least one aspect to think about. xD" I'm not much into movies, so I really have no idea what kinds of movies you like. :/ I heard about both of the movies but haven't watched them yet.
You could watch French movies with English subtitles (or whatever your native language is). That's how all the people in Belgium know English from a young age. The Simpsons, movies, you name it. It's all subtitled, unlike the ridiculously dubbed versions in France and Germany and stuff. And the books I like most are books that kind of have two levels. The plot/story for one has to be interesting and thought through, but there has to be some other dimension to it too. Some reflection by the protagonist. A philosophical side, if you will. Or political. Something that inspires you, makes you think about or even reconsider certain ideas about the world/society/human beings/yourself. Though I'm not someone who can only like something that is all intellectual or arty-farty. Really not. Fight Club and A Clockwork Orange are movies that are really my taste, to give you an image of what I mean, moviewise.
So, finally I decided to write you. I planed that a while ago but haven't... yeah, I just haven't written I suppose. xD" When I was at work today I realized again that my French has somehow... gone away. I learned it quite a while ago but I feel as if I don't remember anything. :/ Then I remembered that you were from Belgium and I thought: "Don't they speak French there?" - I looked in the language thread and there you wrote that you speak French fluently. ^^~ So do you have any tips on how I can improve my French? I tried reading an old school book again (which I got from the school because they didn't need it anymore), but the texts were far too (!) easy. -_- So I decided to read a book in French and... haha, I sucked .,. It was far too difficult. I didn't have enough time and I lacked the motivation to find a way to re-learn it. But I'd really like to. :/ By the way... I really like you from all I've read about you. I appreciate that you're one of the few people who are interested in books. So what genre do you like best? =)
