Yeah same- I do the environmental report (or Eco Banter as I call it) and the back cover images. Its definatly a nice portfolio filler.
Yeah you're right, I'm gonna get involved in much Journalism as possible at uni. I already do some now just on my local school paper, only very small but it helps I guess...
Sounds cool if you do- i'd like to join when you do. It's important to get some rep first so people know you. You're doing a good job sofar at gaining popularity! As for journalism I recomend starting out with a college paper writing a column on something that interests you, do a bit of interviewing and investigation maybe? Possibly a college radio station would be a good step to build skills (plus if you have a friend to join you it can be a lot of fun). Then moving onto a local newspaper would be a good step, then go from there. Its good to jump at any opportunity that comes your way. Its supposed to be the best way to get in there.
Honestly I'd love to be a journalist. Even if it's just on a crappy local paper (I want to go into print as opposed to TV), doing field work would be so exciting. I love finding out about people- what they do and what makes them tick. I guess I just like investigating things It's pretty hard to get into though. I'm thinking of setting up some sort of TFF detective club when I get more of a post count and am therefore more well known.
Hopefully get a job as a web/graphics designer after the 3rd year. I'm slightly tempted to start studying games development after but I think I should get some work. Done some work for the BBC on Flog It a few weeks ago and they've asked me back so i'm hoping to get a few names from there. What are you hoping to do after your studies?
oh wow that sounds quite fun! What do you want to do after?
Wasn't going to crticise you on film studies! I'm on the second year of a foundation degree in Digital Media Arts which includes web design, graphic design, animation, 3D environment rendering, film production, film techniques, using studio equipment, film editing etc. Although film studies is a very small part of the course I know what its like to analyse these things in depth- especially if its a film which you feel has very little substance to work on.
I'm doing English Lit, History and film studies. And trust me film studies is not a "doss" subject, it's bloody hardwork! Sorry it's just people simply seem to assume that all you do in film is watch films but that's only a very small part of it.
Great- I wish I studied English for an A-level instead of Geography. I loved it and was good at it. Oh well. I can still read books and write stories and RPs! I'm guessing you're doing A-levels at the moment? What ones are you studying?
Well thank you for the compliment. Jeez they're idiots anyway. Oooh I've just applied for uni actually, sent my ucas off and all. I've got a conditional to study English and History at York university which was my number one choice, so I'm very happy!
Ah good good- a fellow Brit thats what I like to hear! I'm from Bournemouth if you haven't already guessed at the jump at "BMTH", and am studying at Bath. Sounds quite interesting- I'll take a look at them. Haven't really been looking into different bands this year. As for my tastes I like a bit of allsorts- rock, alt rock, metal, indie, punk, some electro, drum and bass, and reggae and the odd bit of cheese. I have to say well done on dealing with these people (person as I suspect) hassling you. As Meier says its very rare for this sort of thing to happen.
No, no it's Sheffield in the UK. The best Sheffield. Well BMTH are a metalcore group, they're kinda famous and I'd liken them to bands like I killed the prom queen, and drop dead, gorgeous. They're pretty good if a little melodramatic. So what music do you like to listen to?
Lol I thought I got confused! Afterall Bournemouth and Sheffield are miles and miles apart! Or even further if this is a Sheffield that isnt in the UK xD Haven't heard of the band, what kind of music is it?
BMTH as in the band, bring me the horizon sorry I think I got you a little confused. They come from Sheffield which is where I'm from.
BMTH as in Bournemouth? Or is this a different BMTH to the one I know? Hows things going?
