So a parallel universe is a universe that exists at the same time "next to" our world as we know it. To put it bluntly.
A parallel universe is what they also call an alternative universe/world. A world in which some things in the past went differently, resulting in a different present. The word parallel is mostly used when talking about those hypothetical things existing next to our world. In theory, there is an infinite amount of alternative universes. If you know what I mean. Every moment there are an infinite amount of possible things that could happen. And for every possibility, there is a world in which that one possibility occurs. etc. etc. People like to use it in jokes too: -"Can I help?" -"Haha.
