  1. We are Sex Bob-Omb and we are here to sell out and make money and stuff.

I just learnt Garbage Truck, and downloaded a Plumtree album from iTunes.

Honestly love this film so much. Just feels like my sub-culture is finally being expressed.
  2. Awesome! Those two are probably my favorite songs (along with "I Am Sad, So Very, Very Sad" and "We Hate You, Please Die.")
  3. We are Sex Bob-Omb and we are hear to make you think about death and get sad and stuff!

I have been obsessively listening to that soundtrack for the last week, and I learnt two songs from it ("Threshold" and "Black Sheep").
  4. Uh oh.
  5. Best Luker, aye? I'll lurk on you.
  6. Oh, and Oingo Boingo certainly counts, although they're probably quite on the 'pop side' of what I've been interested in.

Funny, I was just reading about Danny Elfman. Kim Gordon (of Sonic Youth fame) dated him in high school.
  7. You know, that sounds like a good idea. I'm waiting for a day where the weather is bad, and I don't have work, and then I'll devote the day to the Internetz. Which is why I've basically been silent for over a week. You have no idea how sunny it is right now.
  8. Got to admit I have a limited knowledge of post-punk bands, and I dunno if I've ever heard the term "no-wave" before. Maybe I know some new wave bands, though. Does Oingo Boingo count? I think YOU should start a thread about that, and provide links to songs from artists that you like, so I can check them out.
  9. Well, maybe. But to be honest the current state of music disappoints me, and this year I've largely been exploring post-punk, no-wave, and new wave -- basically the 1980s alternative scene.

If you started a thread on that I'd contribute

EDIT: Though I do like Mumford & Sons
  10. You listen to music that's cool, right? You should post in my "best songs of the year" thread in the music forum. I am interested to see (and hear) what you liked from this year.
  11. Well, that's good no one died. At least not of the earthquake. Strict building codes, eh? I wonder if the US has anything like that in effect, particularly given the earthquakes California gets. Heh, I figured it didn't really effect you as per you were answering people about it without seeming all that rattled, but I thought I'd make sure. Anyone you know affected, though?

Heh, "obscure" ska sounds a little redundant to me. Ever heard of ska-punk, though? Or Ska-Core? Although those bands have a lot of rap involved, usually. Let me introduce you to this band. Although those songs are seperated by like 8 years, at the end, the band still implimented ska elements into their music at the end. But yeah; it's fair to say I listen to a lot of obscure music, I will admit that.
  12. This is the earthquake. No one from here has explained to my how they heard about it though. Apart from it's size, it is relatively unremarkable. It was 0.1 (Richter) bigger than the Haiti earthquake, but not a soul died, and I slept through it, a couple of hundred of kilometres away.

Anyhoo, I see you as listening to obscure ska, mainly. Well, actually most of the music you mention seems obscure, but I'm not familiar with your favoured genres. I'm not sure what else I associate you with, but ska and hardcore punk don't exactly seem... complementary.
  13. Out of curiosity, what kind of music would you peg me as listening to? Also, reading the last couple comments to you, there was an earthquake down there? I hadn't heard that. Everything okay down there?
  14. Young one? I'm five years older than you, my friend
  15. Don't question my ways, young one.
